The first step is admitting you are a runner.the_bandersnatch wrote:There's some mightily impressive records on here. I go running (note I do not say I am a runner) and my PB is for a half marathon at 01:27:45. I did the NYC marathon in 03:23:52 (I think) but feel I could do much better.
I did the same thing. The "something" that would be is lying.Klotz wrote:I read the time before I read the sport, so I thought you can 500 metres in 40 seconds.
That would be something.

Thats a pretty substantial milestone to reach.
I've been doing cross-training for my swim team, and we ran our first 5k this week in practice
My coach clocked me at a 18:57... I couldn't believe how hard it was. Harder than anything I've ever swam in a practice thats for sure... Hopefully I'll learn to run smarter soon
Race running is much different from practice. The gigantic starting lines and having people around to pace off gives you a kind of rush throughout the race, and after a while it isn't painful any more.
I dont lift weights as I have a small phobia of using public machines, but here is my cardio records

This is the best PR to date.Mighty Jalapeno wrote:Overhead lift: Lifting both garbage cans (full) out of the snowbank where they'd become frozen, one in each hand.

Great things are done when Men & Mountains meet,
This is not Done by Jostling in the Street.
What school do you run for? I've never raced farther than 3200m on a track, and I've never raced on an indoor track, but keep in mind that your indoor time for 5000m will be slightly slower than your outdoor time (on the order of a few seconds, if you're shooting for 17 flat). Good luck!duckshirt wrote:A week from now I'm running my first college track meet... I'm a little bit scared of running indoors, because I usually don't breathe well inside at all. But I'm running the 5k around the 300m track, and hoping to throw down a 17 flat, or close to it.
