Why do you keep up your membership/activity here?

Because I get a lot from the fora. It ammuses me; it gives me something to do when I'm bored; it educates me; I have made friends through it; I get a sense of belonging due to the great community.

Do you own a pet? If so, why? If not, would you like to own a pet? If so, why? If not, why?

Yes, my wife & I have two cats.

1. Dory is a domestic short hair (or some such). Very pretty fur, almost has a violet tint to it.

2. Kala is a persian/himalayan mix and has beautiful fur and the sweetest blue eyes I've ever seen (which makes her pure evil, since noone can resist them).

What's the one vice you just can't quit?

When you look out the closest window, what do you see?

What's your favorite type of weather?

That crispy clear kind of autumn afternoon weather that usually involves walking through dry leaves.

Right now, would you rather jump through time one hour back or one hour forward?

One hour back. Having more time is definitely better than having less time. That way I could spend an extra hour procrastinating and not doing my homework. As a bonus, jumping back in time is a more severe violation of physics and therefore would be more awesome.

Describe your idea of a perfect meal.

Wow, that's a tough one. I'm vegetarian, BTW.

Anyway, it would start with a great salad with lots of tasty stuff in it - apples, raisins, nuts, cherry tomatoes, lettuce etc. Also, there'll be freshly baked bread with excellent room-temperature butter and incredibly stinky cheeses. Maybe some antipasti to go with it.

For the main course, I think maybe whole wheat pasta with an interesting sauce.

For desert, something that combines hot and cold. Warm cake and ice cream, for example. Apple cakes are always good, or gooey chocolate cakes. Cheesecakes are usually cold.

This would probably change if it were hotter. Also, I'm assuming zero calories and as much space in my stomach as needed.

What're your thoughts on cannibalism?

Humans probably taste gross because of all the inorganic and processed foods they eat, so I don't think I would ever eat them. Unless I was presented with a survival situation with no other solution.

Which shift key do you use more often: right or left?

I use both equally, as I generally practice correct capitalization when I type.

Favorite article of clothing you own and why?

Right now it's probably one of the new Threadless shirts just delivered to me, because they're hilarious and I really wanted some new t-shirts. Otherwise, probably my big grey wool coat, just for practicality's sake. And it gives me +5 serious points.

Everything you had planned for today is suddenly canceled. What do you do instead?

Yesterday or the day before. Someone in the Fleeting Thoughts thread pointed out that I had 1000 posts, 700 of which were in general. I thought, "wow, when did I post so much?" Then went on about my business.

What's the one quality about yourself you love more than anything else?

What's a "deal-breaker" for you in a potential significant other?

What's your strategy for dealing with the need to fart while in a quiet public place?

Ooh, tough one. I clench, and try to release it in a slow, controlled manner, while moving. That accomplishes three things: 1) people are less able to pin it on me, 2) over more area, the smell is less concentrated, and 3) hopefully I have enough ability to control the noise factor by controlling the speed of release.

How much pleasure do you get out of discovering something that nobody else around you has?

Discovering something new makes me really excited, it is the coolest thing, and I always want to blabber about it to anyone and everyone who will listen (or not, if they will pretend to listen at least! heehee)

I don't find liking songs embarrassing at all. Nothing wrong with liking Wham! for instance.

How long do you regularly go without eating? How long is the longest you've gone?

Funny you should ask. Regularly I don't go for too long, I forget lunch a lot, but even then I snack. But yesterday I just didn't eat at all, so unless there was a longer time that I don't remember, it would be 31 hours.

Is there any movie or band or book that you love so much that if someone said they hated it, not just didn't like it, but absolutely couldn't stand it, that you would have a hard time having a relationship with this person? Either romance or friendship.

I would probably make some sort of post alluding to an easy method with which to enlarge one's penis. Or how to procure cheap and authentic Rolex watches. Since, you know, it just so happens that the last post quite a few members make here is exactly this.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL, FOLKS! I would subvert the genre by backing up my claims with sweet, sweet truth! Essentially, my absence would be a small price to pay for a fora full of well-endowed, rolex-wearing gentlemen.

I think relativism of any sort leads to an inevitable stalemate, where no objectivity or empiricism can be agreed upon. Which eventually makes any sort of communication irrational, unstable, and valueless.
