0569: "Borders"

I don't see any alt text.

Update! - Alt text: Eventually a UN is set up. And then a lone rebel runs down the line of flags in front of it, runs back to his base, and gets a kajillion points.

Yup--checked the html code. title="", ie, no tooltip for this comic. A first!

I wonder what it means?

Probably that someone forgot to upload it properly. I expect I'll be editing the OP shortly.

The artwork is beautiful for this one. The gnarled tree and the city below are both so well done.

*sigh*

I wish I had skillz like that.

The tree artwork is superb. And the alt-text was the best, as always.
In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I don't really get the comic. I mean, how is that a set up for a capture the flag? There's no conflict. That, and I don't play the video games where the flag gets strapped to your back somehow- I play it for real, with the flag a little hand job (sorry, dirty mind) that you just grab from the circle and run like hell.

Really guys? Sure I think of Borders when I think of books, but that's not sad, just practical. And Amazon is synonymous with online shopping, not books, in my mind.

athelas wrote:Reminded me of Kings, which you should watch.

Now I feel sad. Such a bummer that so many people can't recognize good TV when they see it, preferring to watch reality shows (although there are a couple I'd find interesting if 75% of any episode wasn't utterly pointless)and other crap, so we'll only get one season of this masterpiece (unless cable picks it up).

Well, yes. That's the joke.

Very funny! /me likes it!

I think the joke was that the setting first seemed to be of a fantasy land and then you realoze that it makes no sense in the setting, it really is in.

I am so pleased at this comic: It looks cool, It has an unexpected funny twist (I definitely was expecting a political joke/your mom is queen in bed type joke) but most importantly Capture the Flag is amazing. My most anticipated day of any year is always: CTF Toronto put on by newmindspace!!

I really wanna play CTF.

???

Funny how I was thinking about the importance of having a story for a game just yesterday. Unreal is the classic example of a game whose story is pretty much irrelevant; the "history of the level" thingies are more of a curiosity than anything you actually care about.

I agree on the impressive art of the first panel. I'm appaled at how good this stick-figure comics gets more often than not.
I blog, I program (and again), and I tweet. Actually, I used to. I do nothing now. Thanks for not asking.

This really looks like an integration by parts joke. LIATE is the "rule of thumb" for choosing which two functions to work with when integrating by parts, but I can't figure out what YARBIS is, or how the three years factor in.

...Am I reading too much into this?
