Signed prints

Postby xkcd » Mon Aug 07, 2006 5:24 am UTC

You can now get signed posters and prints here:

http://xkcd.com/store/

I'm really sleepy now, so goodnight! First batch will be shipped out at the end of the week, and then just rolling as-they're-ordered after that.

(THERE ARE ALSO POSTERS)

Thanks for supporting!

I'll be ordering a couple of posters soon, but I still wish you'd do one of 'Secret World's (Although I'm not sure of the legal liability of using a Gaiman quote to sell work.)

I wrote to him a month or two ago to ask for permission to use the quote, and he never replied. So I guess no. :(

It's in that legal grey area of derivative works.

And if you were to send me it free as part of a different order thereby making no money from it yet I happened to have to pay extra 'shipping' on the order except for the fact I've got so complicated and murky I feel I should be in some East London gangland film.

It's a shame though, because it's a great piece. Maybe I shall pester him.

I know it's fickle, but it would be nice to see thumbnails, so I don't have to go back and forth between the list of available comics and the actual comic.

Maybe in checkout 2.0.

On the Gaiman front, you could leave that part of the comic blank to sell it, and let people fill it in themselves (or substitute a quote they like better) when they get it!

That'd be legal, right?

Couldn't laminate it though, and also, it wouldn't be the same.

Yeah, but then the people who want it could buy it. And Mr. Randyman can make money off it, too!

Plus, with a sharpie (or a wet-erase marker, if your taste in quotes is fickle like that), you can write on laminationystuff.

Is there any chance official prints will be coming back ever? There are a few I was waiting to buy, but the sale option never arose again and is now completely unmentioned in the store. Will I have to resort to making my own at Kinko's (as gifts for friends, myself, not for profit)?
