I love the word "among" it's a simple, everyday word but it is too much fun to say not to be mentioned (apologies if I'm not the first to mention it, I didn't have the time to read all the previous entries).
At the same time my favorite spoken word (of all time) is in this clip of blackadder "Ink and incapability":

It occurs at approximately 5:08 when Dr. Johnson shouts "sausage" for the second time. It is the perfect mix of a posh british accent with deep-life-crushing agony and pork product. I love it.

I just realised ambidextrous is a nice word as well. And petrichor! Awesome words to use in speech.

In writing, I like bass. It can be both an instrument, a fish and low-frequency sound. Totally epic.

Plebeian- it's such a pretty sounding word, and both the word itself and they way to spell it are esoteric enough to automatically make anyone familiar with it feel justified in using it on anyone who isn't.

Other favourites include esoteric, evanesce, and lucid.

I always thought "cacophonous" should mean "pretty sounding" because I think the word rolls very nicely.

^^ Very circuitous, because I am failing to find a word that means either "a word that is what it sounds like" (like rollercoaster) or the opposite (like cacophonous). Please help me.

I always felt cacophonous sounds exactly like what it means, but that may be because it sounds similar to one German word for "shit"

"onomatopoeia" is a word for words that sound like their meaning. I don't think there is a word for the opposite.

"onomatopoeia" is for words like "bang" etc. It doesn't apply to the ... mouth-feel? ... of the word as it relates to the definition of the word itself. I know, I'm still not being very clear.

I love the word "literally" for two reasons. First, because it is misused so often, even though the meaning is fairly simple. Second, because I pronounce it Lit-ril-ee (as opposed to Lit-er-ah-lee) because it pisses off my coworkers.

necessarily. fun to say because it's just a touch challenging. and i don't know . . . the negative form of it seems so useful to me in so many situations for forewarning people that they're interpreting something too broadly and simply, and i'm about to complicate their picture for them. i'm not saying it makes me popular

just that it's very useful, especially at work.

me to programmer: yes, i know you made the problem go away by removing all the conditions that were in place when it happened. that doesn't necessarily mean that the problem is fixed.

Integration.

It describes so much of what I like in things, from philosophy to economics to music. It's broad and ubiquitous enough to apply to almost anything I can think of, yet concrete enough to have a real meaning that a moderately intelligent person who doesn't know me will get (unlike if I said I like "meaning" or "truth" in all things.)
