Changing a vote in a poll

Postby Zohar » Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:48 am UTC

Is there any way to know in advance, before I vote, if I can change my vote on a poll later?

Not that I know of (this is from memory, perhaps later I'll actually create a poll and check for myself). But if you can't and want to, you could just PM the OP or comment in the thread to the effect that unchangeable polls are lame and they should edit it to allow changing of votes.

Why would you want to? Shouldn't you cast the vote you most support first? How many polls are something that would change over time and long term enough as that makes sense?

Well most of the polls I've seen in LSR, for example, are of the sort that would change over time, and are in active ongoing discussions that people continue to participate in.

Also, there's such a thing as clicking on the wrong button, you know.

Yeah, basically this. For example, the "number of sexual partners" poll, or maybe I just changed my mind.

Point of interest: editing a poll to allow revoting, unlike changing the poll options, does not reset the vote counts, so can be done at any time without worrying about losing historical votes.
