I actually have some cartoons that might work pretty well for that, but the deadline has passed. I saw it when it first came up but didn't really follow up, sadly.
Ah well. I'll quite possibly reach as big an audience posting them here.
:)

On a mildly related note; What sort of readership does this comic have? Thousands?

There's 231 people registered on the forums. All we'd have to determine is the average ratio of (registered forum users):(total readers).
If we could survey an accurate sample of all web users, and ask them if they (a) regularly read xkcd, and (b) have subscribed to the xkcd, we'd have enough information to generalize to 231.
I say a sample of about 100,000 would be sufficient. Let's send the survey by e-mail, and just to be sure, send one every day for a month.
If that doesn't return reliable results, we'll also phone them at dinnertime.

I see Canada suffers from the same cads that infest English phone lines. You realise they set up spy cameras, so they can see when you are happily tucking into your yorkshire pudding.

I actually have pretty detailed statistics, what with getting to see the records of everyone who visits the site and all.
On the average day lately people make about 15,000 visits and view 150,000 pages. There were a bit under 100,000 separate visitors last month by IP making a bit under 300,000 visits, and this month should be about double that. I also get about five or ten pieces of site-related email a day.

Oh blargh*, I posted this a bit in a hurry and didn't apparently check the dates well enuff. Oh well, there's always next year.
Readership-wise, I wonder if the visitors / forumgoers ratio can be generalized for other webcomics…?
*Sure, go ahead and post the image macro if you wanna. I ain't doïng it, however.

No -- for one thing, these forums are new and not heavily pushed. Forums don't necessarially follow the websites very closely. For another thing, knowing rough numbers for other sites, I can tell you the ratios are different :)
