I missed ten days of the sign-up thread. That could be why I missed out on resign-up phase. I do want to play if that is at all possible...

My role is constrained to write in verse,
My posts therefore may be rare and terse.
So due to this restriction that I got,
Please a lurker think me not.
From this first post I get a boon,
To fear no noose or mafia goon.
I see there are some like me,
To write in prose are not free.
Later I will post when I can,
When posts I read and thoughts I plan.

Intro:
Hear ye, hear ye. This is the story of a town, far, far, far away, in a land long forgotten. A town plagued with misfortune, and superpower-giving drinking water. A town where no man is born ordinary, and anyone can make their own destiny.

But this is not only the story about a town, it is also a story of love, cursed love, blessed love, love of family, love of friends, and love of strangers you met while doing the laundry. It is also the tale of deception, cults fighting for a better future and envy of those mightier than yourself. It is a tale of bravery and cowardice, good and evil, mad professors and the cursed ones who are a bit too sane for their own good. A tale of life itself and how assumptions might hurt you badly.

In this town, a fateful night, long, long ago, an accident prone judge went out for a stroll, when his wig caught on fire due to being dunked in gasoline and someone dropping match on it. At this point a car (they were rather technologically advanced for being so far away and so long ago) sped past with a strange man hanging out the window, shouting "Eat lead sucker!" and riddling the poor mayor with more holes than a swiss-cheese.
When the rest of the town saw this they immediately decided to form a lynch mob and root out this killer who obviously had to be from the mafia. And that's how it all started...

Day 1 has now officially started!

Awesome flavour text.

So, we have mafia and cult(s)? Also probably a pair or two of lovers?

I know the love is mentioned a lot, and plenty of factions are implied. But I think the "A tale of life itself and how assumptions might hurt you badly" implies we really shouldn't trust the flavor text.

Ninja'd: Cults, a SK, or a 2nd Mafia is implied because apparently two people tried to kill the judge (one fire, one gun). But again, lets not trust the flavor text too much. It's a crazy game, the mods said assumptions might be bad, and I've seen plenty of flavor text that is basically a lie (esp on IRC).

Double Ninja'd: Oh and yeah it does say cults.

Triple Ninja'd: Actually nothing to say here, but each time I've hit submit a new post popped up, so I'm ready for a 4th now.

Well obviously we're in Townsville, the water is infused with Chemical X, and the mayor has made his last impotent pass at Sarah Bellum.

Wow, if we take the flavor text literally, we could guess up to 6 pairs of lovers, which is pretty wild. The two sets in Elemental were crazy enough... However, AS did repeatedly mention how quickly people would die in this game, so that sort of makes sense with a ton of lovers. No real certainty on that though.

Re: the water, I'm fairly certain that it's the canon explanation for why there's no vanilla in here. The "misfortune" is our crime problem, and the water gives us all some pretty wacky abilities. However, lanicita, please let us know if you get some cool superpowers from it!

Just a tidbit about general strategy here while I get some thoughts together on how the setup is going to work: we really should try to wait to lynch today until we can find a good reason. There are no nights and no other killing today, so tomorrow is going to bring no real revelations unless we have actual discussion today.

What shall we discuss? It's day one, and the major avenue for creating discussion for the rest of the game is cut off until tomorrow. Are you hoping that somebody's going to hint at their role? Are you trying to get a feeling of somebody's alignment by seeing how the bantering posts feel?

How does that make you feel?

Maybe if I ask nicely... Is anybody here a smooth criminal?

(My internet's been spotty all day so I'm going to write this in rather more of a rush than normal-- I've no idea why it's suddenly working, and I don't know if it might go haywire again.)

On the flavor text: I think it's probably entirely true. But that doesn't mean it can't be misleading as all hell.
On NAR-- hmm, that probably is suspicious, and Az is right a truly terrifying amount of the time, but I want to watch where the conversation on this goes for a while before I even think of throwing my hat in the ring. And if there aren't jesters in this game, I will seriously consider eating said hat. We can be pretty sure there's multiple cults and lovers too.
AngrySquirrel wrote:But this is not only the story about a town, it is also a story of love, cursed love, blessed love, love of family, love of friends, and love of strangers you met while doing the laundry. It is a tale of bravery and cowardice, good and evil, mad professors and the cursed ones who are a bit too sane for their own good. A tale of life itself and how assumptions might hurt you badly.
I figure this is probably the most important paragraph-- probably describes a lot of roles with perfect accuracy. But like most prophecies, it's likely to only make sense in retrospect. I know I recognise one clause in there as referring to my role, so I'll bet a lot of you guys do too. But those are tales for another time.

Alas, poor NaR, I thought him better then this,
to make foolhardy attempts at stifling banter come first day.
Truly, Azrael makes golden points with accusations.

Would I to believe that such simple verdicts could be gleaned out of so little,
I would gladly follow his lead, but sadly no,
for I cannot believe fate would let us live such easy lives.
But, let it not be said the first vote was cast in vain,
as accusation befriends and breeds discussion, oft sought in times like these.

So it is a war... What do you think? So me changing things with rodan would be bad... because it might mess with history? (My power is to link two people together making them the same alignment). Well thanks for the heads up dedalus.
