I just signed a lease for an apartment in Brooklyn :) It's about a 35 minute commute on the N to Canal St, so probably not ideal for you guys, but if you do happen to decide you want to live there (it's cheap and safe and really culturally intriguing), I get a $200 referral bonus if you sign with my landlord! I can also recommend a really great broker in Astoria if anyone's interested. He tried really hard to find me something and if it weren't for my crazy low budget I would have happily rented through him and paid the fee.

I am definitely up for a meetup sometime! I'm only working part-time at the moment so I am available all the time.

Hey guys. I know this is short notice but I'll be in the city today. I'll get into GCT around noon, so if anyone wants to meet up, have lunch, or just chill out hit up my cell: [redacted]. I'll be free until about 5-ish. I'd love to hang out!

EDIT: Took out my cell number as it's now Tuesday and there's now no need for anyone to have it.

What are people doing on Friday night? I am turning a quarter of a century old (jesus!) the next day, and wouldn't mind a few brews with friendly faces after work.

I'm coming into the city again this weekend! Sunday and Tuesday I will be tied up, but on Monday I should be free! Anyone want to meet for lunch or bubble tea or something of the like on Monday?

Nevermind. Apparently I am NOT going to the city this weekend. :(

I'm back on Long Island, for the summer, at least, and potentially longer. I'm also not working at the moment, so I'd be down for something pretty much anytime.
I suggest something here, because some of these events look awesome. And I'm a giant science nerd, and suspect I am not the only one.

There's some kind of free yoga event in Times Square on June 21st. My friend and I already signed up for the 10:30 am session (the other available one is 1 pm I think). So even though there probably won't be any actual meetups (with me) that day because my friend doesn't like Internet people, as a new convert to yoga, I still suggest you go!

I just got an email notice that Spencer Tunick is looking for volunteers to be a part of his next intallation. Figures, as soon as I move to the wrong side of the country he does on on the East Coast. Anyway, New Yorkers should think about it, I think it would be awesome!

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to participate in Montauk, NY for an installation
by artist Spencer Tunick.

Installation to take place on Monday, June 22, 2009

You will only be nude for a short period of time and in exchange for taking part,
you will receive an 8x10 inch limited edition photograph of the artwork created by the artist.

We think that this is a great opportunity for a weekend vacation or adventure. Fill up some hotel rooms with friends and stay overnight
on Sunday to make it to the morning installation on Monday! You can even make it back to work on Monday, albeit a little late.
The installation will be finished on Monday morning approximately at 8am.
Hope you can make an extra effort to come out to Long Island, and be a part of Spencer’s artwork.

The making of the work will take place on a Monday morning and if you are coming from New York City,
The best way to make it to the location, on time in the early morning, will be to stay overnight.
Montauk is approximately 3 hours from Manhattan easily accessible by train, bus or car.
The installation location will be on a beach 10 minutes away from the town of Montauk by car.
You will need a car or call for a taxi to access the beach location.
Please Car Pool.

Please only register if you are seriously considering attending.
We need to get an exact count because of limited numbers allotted by the permit.
After you register with your interest in participating, if you are chosen,
you will be notified two weeks before the art installation with further instructions, location and arrival time.
Sometimes emails end up in your junk email box, so check it weekly.
Kindly hold off on booking any hotels until you have been accepted.

To participate/register, email: projects@spencertunick.com
For Subject, use: PARTICIPATE IN MONTAUK, LONG ISLAND FOR AN INSTALLATION BY ARTIST SPENCER TUNICK

There are space limitations on this installation so after you reply that you
would like to attend, if for any reason you don’t get an email back from us,
it’s only because we filled up the maximum space for this location. We will keep your info
on file for future projects where space limitation will most likely be less an issue.

No Cameras,
No Video,
No Video or Photos with Cell Phones.

PARTICIPANTS ONLY.

Hmmm. That would be interesting, although I don't know if it's something I'd want to turn into a meet-up. I like being naked as much as the next person, but "oh, hey, people from the fora, lets go get naked and make art" seems like it could be awkward. Or totally fun.
I'm in LI, about 2 hours from Montauk, so it would be an easy trip for me, in any case

is anyone going to the MoCCA art festival today? David Malki and Randall Munroe will be there, or so it says on the schedule, so I was just wondering/giving people a heads up. I found out this morning.

New York is muggy as fuck, though I suppose if you're coming from NC you might not notice. I'm not aware of anything particularly cool going on -- but then, I really suck at keeping up with that sort of thing. Anybody else know?

I will be heading up to the Big Apple BBQ in Madison Square Park tomorrow (SUNDAY, June 14), probably around noon-1ish.
It's $8/plate for what's supposed to be fabulous food.

EDIT: Lame and didn't go this weekend (train issues Saturday, family stuff today...) but I'd still be down for a NY meet-up sometime.

I know absolutely nothing about those areas, but I'm down for a meetup. Usually I just use yelp.com to find new awesome places, but I don't like beer so I don't know where you get the good stuff or how you can tell if a place will have the good stuff.

I haven't made specific plans yet, so anytime is fine. Is this just for drinks, or food too? I'm not good at times... maybe 6 or 7 if dinner is involved, 8 or 9 if not? Opinions?

As for location, I believe Clinton was talking about the one at 6th ave and 51st st, by Radio City Music Hall. Here is le website.

Also, hot.
