No kidding. Trying to catch a level 53 with the lowest catch rate in the game, and an attack that hurts itself? Not to mention in a sandstorm? I'm just glad you can get a free one in RSE.

Sounds like a challenge. As soon as I find my GBA, Imma get on that.

It's also only available in Diamond and Pearl as a swarm. In RSE you can't get it from the wild.

Swarm + Catch Rate of 3 (3 is the same as the hard legendaries, ie. not dialga and palkia they have a 30 catch rate) low MAX Hp*, in a sandstorm area where it's only attack is takedown.

This makes Beldum the HARDEST POKEMON IN THE ENTIRE GAME TO CATCH. Imagine if you managed to chain a shiny beldum and you fucked it up because it was so hard. Seriously this is THE pokemon that warrants the masterball.


*Catch rate depends on a sort of HP ratio, lower HP mobs are harder to catch, ie. if it has 2 HP and you swipe it down to 1 hp it's still "half hp", if you try to catch a legendary it usually has lots of HP, which means at 1 HP left it's a much smaller fraction of it's total HP. Beldum has much less HP than a legendary with a catch rate of a legendary making it much harder to catch at any particular HP than a legendary.

Stark mountain, running around with buck is really good for training; I had just imported babies of my desired pokemon from sapphire and had my level 50 gengar when I walked in there to train with buck. Now I have a dragonite, charizard, etc all above level 60. The fact you don't have to heal them between battles is fantastic.
Though I don't know bucks gender; all the dialogue is neutral and the image from their back isn't much help.

Here's an update on the Crystal Battle Tower team I was putting together

Scizor (F)
- Slash
- Agility
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
H: I'd give her a Bright Powder if I had one

She actually works quite well as a BPer. Her high defenses mean I can usually tell how much time I have to set her up, with only critical hits and fire-moves consistently taking more than half her HP (Fire-type = run like fuck) Occasionally I have time for four separate stat-ups, which can result in a godly Tyrannitar.

Tyrannitar (F)

- Rockslide
- Crunch
- Screech
H: I'm thinking Quick Claw, or maybe Leftovers if I ever get her to lvl 100.

Earthquake is brilliant especially Swords-Danced, and Rockslide takes care of any flying types EQ can't hit. Crunch is not so useful, being a special move, therefore not getting benefits from SD or her high attack, but does at least make short work of Psychics. Screech is only there because it's what she had when growing up. Suggestions are welcome. T-tar's biggest fears are Fighting types, and other Tyrannitars, that, even when mine is agility'd, are still always faster on the Super Effective Earthquake.

For a pseudo-legendary, my Dragonite is SHIT. He must have terrible Special Attack, because his Thunderbolt can't even OHKO a 4x weak Gyrados, and most of the time, not one of his attacks will do any notable damage at all. Clearly he'd benefit from a Physical Attack, and my current solution is to get rid of no-time-to-use-it,rarely-useful Safeguard, and replace it with Fly, as my team has no way to deal with Fighting Types atm. Outrage may also be a candidate for replacement, as Ice Beam can deal with more types, and has a higher base power.

That would be a really good set-up....in DP. DP has made things a lot better with the new special/physical regime. It makes T.tar's crunch very handy.

Huzzah! After nearly 10 long, relatively grueling years, I have completed my Crystal Version Pokedex.

Now I wish I had a game boy printer to print my diploma...

I have platinum now, and am finally transferring all my pokemanz over to it from my diamond, sapphire and fire red versions. Sapphire currently has the most full pokedex for me. But soon it shall be platinum.
Though this may take a while at 6 per day transfer rate.

Also, my current team, all at level 70 (+/- 2 levels)
Dragonite (outrage, thunderbolt, aqua tail and wing attack)
Charizard (heat wave**, flamethrower, aerial ace, dragon claw)
Electivire (thunderpunch, fire punch, discharge, low kick*)
Tyranitar (earthquake, rock slide, crunch, brick break)
Aerodactyl (rock slide, fly, ice fang, iron head)
Gengar (Hypnosis, dream eater, shadow ball, dark pulse)

*I was thinking of putting on brick break, or if possible drain punch (heh), but low kick is just so ridiculously over powered at high levels. Most of the really powerful tanks/soaks are heavy; tyranitar, aggron, dialga, bastiodon, etc.
For these, its a OHKO without fail, and for most of the other ones, even for the ones who are resistant, it still does ridiculous amounts of damage. They don't even have to be that heavy. In my views, low kick appears to be one of the most severely unbalanced attacks at high levels.
**I plan on changing this to solarbeam or somesuch.

I also have on standby for the team, a skarmory (with sky attack, just because I can), Crobat (hazer and toxic poison), Aggron, Salamence, etc. (But not in that order).

Concentrate on getting them; go to a town, say the first one, and keep exiting and entering the route next to it until the pokedex says the legendaries are there. Then when they are, use max repel and have a pokemon in the front of your party that is the same or lower level than it. Hope its a crobat or somesuch with mean look. (i.e. fast enough to mean look before they run).
I have gold silver and crystal. But the batteries are gone on them all and I have yet to replace them.

Yeah Gengar is the best for the dogs, hypnosis off the bat. Otherwise you could get a pokemon that doesn't suck then false swipe them to 1 then catch them next battle after hypnosising them.

Yeah, in all the games up to DPPt they are immobilised in sleep. But for some reason in DPPt they decided that pokemon running away whilst asleep was more sensible.

Also, this is another thing that has never made sense to me; if you're fast asleep and put inside a car, you won't force your way out until you wake. Yet pokemon manage the feat with pokeballs.

Yeah, I just got the regigigas through the pal park method of regis.
And whats with all of the event pokemon? How am I supposed to get them? Especially the ones that are once only and didn't happen in Australia.

Two things; one, how do I get cheat device x? And how do they work?
Two; dump the platinum save? What do you mean by that? To remove it, just start a new game (it'll delete the old save).

Dump, as in, get a raw copy of the save data so I can use it on...alternate devices...that I bought after getting 80 hours into the game.

And I've no clue where to get or how to use one of those devices on the DS. Once again, I have an...alternate device....that allows me to use those codes.

Bump! aka, why has nobody posted in this thread now that Black and White have been out?

Anyway, I'm wondering if my idea of basing a team around a Cofagrigus with Power Split and very low attack and sp. attack stats has any merit. It's pretty slow, but has good defenses, so I thought giving it a quick claw, then sticking sweepers with PS, then following up with Toxic or Pursuit (brb, looking up if it can learn Pursuit) would be a good strategy. I've also given it rest, and have a Lilligant with Aromatherapy on standby for repeated PSing.

Pokemon black was pretty difficult until I happened upon a Daigeki. The thing utterly destroyed 75% of my team, and wasted 30 pokeballs catching it (last one... net ball... catch, yeaaah!).
