A Sad Day for Trekkies

Postby Superman2489 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 5:42 am UTC

While killing time browsing the xkcd website, I looked through the Store. Inside, in the area of BREADPIG, they sell a t-shirt concerning androids. Somehow they managed to get Lieutenant Commander Data to submit a statement in support of the shirt. Unfortunately, they misquoted him. Data's recorded statement is "Believing one's shirt to be perfect is often the sign of a delusional mind; in this case, I'll make an exception." Data is incapable of using contractions, as is clearly stated in episode "Future Imperfect," among others. Can someone please quote Data correctly?

I vaguely recall that Data could contract while the emotion chip was installed. Perhaps this quote was recorded for posterity while he was under the Influence?

There's...no such entry anywhere in the xkcd store. What are you talking about?

Also, everyone else, this is S/FI now. Chatter ceases.

Over here.

I didn't know what's up with that at first, either. It's not an xkcd shirt...

Breadpig: breadpig is the hub for a wide variety of geeky ideas and designs -- many of them for sale, others simply for our own amusement. You can keep up with the latest projects on the blog. But breadpig also has the responsibility of being the world's hero, so these items fund a neat addition: the breadpig prize.

You see, Breadpig, Inc. was founded with the purpose of being an uncorporation. Rather than following the typical corporate directive of maximizing shareholder wealth, breadpig aims to do interesting (good) things with its profits. Don't tell our shareholders.

The breadpig cannot be thwarted. Although many have tried to destroy our hero, the breadpig, like the mighty phoenix, has risen from the ashes and taken flight on wings of toast.

(I believe it is they who are doing the whole Randall's book thing)
