Which group would win in a face off?

On the cards, Digimon always had ridiculously high attack and health points in comparison to pokemon, but in real life pokemon would destroy digimon by the fact that pokemon was better crafted as a story, the monsters were cooler, digimon was a clone and pokemon have DRAGONITE. Seriously, he could do pretty much anything.

I recently watched the whole of the first series of digimon.
I say recently...yeah it was 2 years ago. Yes I am at university. Yes i did watch it several episodes at a time at 2 in the morning after a few weeks.

The storyline was suprisingly really good, just the constant repetition of animation over every single episode was mindnumbing.

So pokemon every time.

I liked the third ~~series~~ season of digimon.. but I never played any game version of it. With Pokemon I only liked the first episodes when Ash had problems starting up and argued with Misty. After that its nothing but good sportsmanship and smiles and the power of friendship. Booo!

For PS1, I had a digimon game (for no known reason). It sucked; you could only get digimon to Level 11, and you needed to use toy planes to catch digimon. Seriously, who uses toy planes?

Yeah, but the difference is that they don't say those all the time in Pokemon. In Digimon it's like I NEED GURURUMON TO DIGIVOLVE TO STOP THE DIGIDESTINED FROM GETTING THE DIGI-EGG AND DESTROYING THE DIGIWORLD. At least based on the couple times I watched it.

Digimon. Hands down. I'm not saying that I don't enjoy Pokemon, I do--it's just that I've always been able to become more emotionally invested in the stories told throughout the Digimon series.

I always much preferred the Digimon series and general fiction far more than the Pokemon 'verse, but Pokemon games kicked Digimon in their Digi-ass.

-I preferred Skullgreymon, who I admit was awesome, but the pokemon monsters always seemed a lot cooler and less whiny
-I watched quite a lot of both and I use the word "clone" in the sense that without pokemon, it's a safe bet digimon would never have been conceived as an idea...

I prefer Digimon season 1 anime. Didn't care at all for all the subsequent seasons.

Pokemon was just annoying. At least the Digi chosen ones were going somewhere with a mission. Ash just wandered around and Team Rocket was inept. No character development in the slightest, and the characters that might've grown up and force Ash to grow with them kept getting replaced with every season.

Digimon Tamers and Digimon Adventure over all the other Digimon seasons (which were mediocre kids shows).

Pokemon under all Digimon series (because it sucked even before 4kids got their hands on it). Also, because Digimon at least tangentially involved computers.

I can only judge on anime alone, but in that case, Digimon wins without a doubt. It had more interesting characters with more depth who actually went through character arcs. It had a better premise - Ash's endless quest to be "The Best Pokemon Trainer Ever," got kinda old after a while, especially since half the time he'd only win or make progress on a technicality. It had a villain parodying Elvis. It had half-decent story arcs. I actually gave a crap about the digimon because they could talk and had personalities.

DIgimon definitely wins!

I totally agree with all the comments pertaining to the lack of character development in Pokemon. It is so true! Digimon also had a way better and more encapturing opening episode. There was alot more action in it rather than just someone chasing a stupid yellow mouse. I quickly got bored of Pokemon after the Johto League series.

Also, in a match between the two types of monsters, digimon would win there too because they could digivolve and get more powerful at any given moment and didnt have to wait for such a long time like the pokemon did. The digimon could also draw power from their owners if they had to.

On the other hand though, the pokemon spin off games totally own digimon. I am a proud owner of the pokedex, pokeball and numerous gameboy games. I also own a digivice. My hand nearly fell off after shaking it so much and nothing ever happened in it!

I liked Pokemon better than Digimon.

The "mon" suffix is just short for monsters. Pokemon=Pocket Monsters. Digimon=Digital Monsters.

As I got older (read: went from eleven to twelve) I became more tired of pokemon and more interested in the Digimon series'. But I recently went back and watched the first digimon and pokemon movies, and I think I prefer both them to either of the shows from whence they came.
