What about soccer players who end up tearing their hamstring during a kick because they spend so much time on leg extensions? Surely you'd consider that a useful increase in strength from a machine, if unhealthily applied.psyck0 wrote:It looks like it could be a fairly practical application of strength. That's one of the problems with exercise, right, that it sometimes doesn't translate to anything you actually do (for example, machines don't increase your functional strength because they don't work the stabilisers).
I'm not sure how useful it would be for BUILDING strength, but it looks like it could be a decent way of testing it.

And your citation is a youtube video? Le sigh. I'll have to check that out when I'm not at work, unless you'd like to give me an overview. I have a hard time believing that that's anything worthwhile, but I'll take a look.

Yeah, I pretty much refuse to do any trad that's even remotely close to my sport (I assume that's what you're talking about, just a different set of jargon) limit. Too much to worry about.TheKrikkitWars wrote:I'm now climbing at English tech grade 6a (5b-overhanging)*; and Trad Adjectival Hard Very Difficult to Hard Severe**, This is odd, as my tech grades suggest I should be able to do much harder trad. I guess I'm too busy worrying about placing pro, and finding a good stance.

On slides or not? I heard it makes a difference, not that it matters that's a very fast time in any case.
