Why am I unable to join in? I went to the last bit of the Pulp fiction one, but now whenever I click the link to an irc channel I'm told by firefox that

"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (irc) isn't associated with any program."

Any tips?

EDIT: Found the addon Chatzilla, which works, but will it work for the film as well?

Well, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'll be moving on to campus in two days, and I can't P2P there. . .not that I have P2P'ed yet, but we've only had three nights.

Fight Club is an extremely popular movie, and as such, extremely difficult to find on Youtube (which is how I got Pulp Fiction on livestream). So, I need a good place to download the movie in a format that Livestream recognizes (.avi is one) that is less than .. ..6 Gigs, I think it is? If you have a download, I would appreciate it. Or if you have it saved on your computer, you would help out a lot if you could upload it yourself. I can give you the power to; it's no problem, really.

But in general, it may become more difficult for me to do movie night, because I may plan to actually socialize on Friday and Saturdays, and finding movies may be more difficult for me if they're not on Youtube, and Youtube is a site I really trust to not give me viruses or the MPAA to come after me (livestream can upload videos directly from Youtube, so I don't even have to download to my harddrive).

So unless you want to do the whole crummy Megavideo thing, this movie night may be a bit difficult. . .

I'm planning on eleven New York time tomorrow, possibly 10PM london time too (which would be 5 NY, I think).

So .. . sorry.

Don't worry Sean, it's out of your realm of control. My father has a vast collection of movies (though slightly newer and less of the classics) and I'm totally willing to upload them. I can download some of the movies if given substantial time.

Apparently my parents are choking my internet time during school, so I guess I can't do anything. I don't even know if I can show up at these little movie nights anymore.

I'd like to help but my internet connection sucks and it would take me years to upload the movie.

Maybe we could just move down the list until we find a film that's available on youtube? Maybe not the best long term solution but unless someone else volunteers to do uploading then this would be easiest.

Other possibilities:
  • Make the nominator the one who is responsible for streaming the movie. Either through livestream/something similar, or by streaming the content themselves using something like VLC if their internet can handle it.
  • Everybody obtains the movie separately and we synchronise.

Btw if it's just a case of pressing play at the right times, I wouldn't mind occasionally helping out with the european showings. Can't do it this week though as I'm going to be busy tonight and probably won't be back before 10.

Nominations for next week:
Primer
Stand by Me
Airplane!

Re: Movie night, anyone? Vote! | FC at 5-6 and 11 EST (US)

Postby sje46 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 8:10 pm UTC

Noms noted.

Okay, I downloaded Fight Club, and uploadedf it to Livestream. When I did it, it only played the first 9 minutes. So I'm reimporting it, and it's been taking a while (first time I tried it took only a few minutes, and now I've been waiting an hour). So, it might be done at 5, might not. So .. I don't know what to do, if we should start it at 6 instead?

Yeah, except internationally they just shortened it to Amilie... it says a lot for Jean-Pierre Jeunet that this film was considered his worst work to date. It fucking fantastic!
