Gamble everything for love
Gamble everything
Put it in a place you keep what you need
You can gamble everything for love if you're free
You gotta gamble everything for love
Baby are you cold?
Are you cold baby I could wrap you up
Wrap you up in my love
If you wanna you can gamble everything for love

She's so cold and human
It's something humans do
She stays so golden solo
She's so number nine
She's incredible math
Just incredible math
And is she really human?
She's just so something new
A waking lithium flower
Just about to bloom
I smell lithium now
Smelling lithium now
How is she when she doesn't surf?
How is she when she doesn't surf?
How is she when she doesn't surf?
I wonder what she does when she wakes up?
When she wakes up
So matador
So calm
So oil on a fire
She's so good
She's so good
She's so goddess lithium flower
So sonic wave
Yeah, she's so groove, yeah
She's so groove
Yeah
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
You know I've never seen the girl wipe out
How does she so perfectly surf?
How does she so perfectly surf?
How does she so perfectly surf?
I wonder what she does when she wakes up?
I wanna go surfing with her
I wanna go surfing with her
I wanna go surfing with her
I wanna go surfing with her

Love, you're such a sweet thing,
Good enough to eat thing
And that's just a-what I'm gonna do.

But srsly: Trying to figure out any given MBV lyric is like trying to figure out what you did last night after you blacked out. Everything's really hazy, you have beautiful impressions of most of it, you generally need to consult friends to confirm most of it, and when you finally do figure out what it is? It's pretty dumb.
And then you go and do it again.

Also, how has no one mentioned Rage Against the Machine yet, the masters of repeating themselves over and over, with lyrics that make no damn sense. How many times do I have to listen to "some of those that were forces are the same that bore crosses" and "RALLY ROUND THE FAMILY, WITH POCKETS FULL OF SHELLS." I think more than 3/4 of the words in Bulls on Parade are nonsense words.

"Thunder only happens when its raining.
Players only love you when they're playing"
As far as observations go these are right up there with "Lightbuls only burn out when there's current." Or maybe "Cars are only cleaned after they're dirtied."

Not to sound like a condescending nerd, but no it's not.

Like, say, thunder and love? They're pretty seemingly-unrelated. Rain and players are pretty unrelated too.
How are you getting this interpretation? Where does it even imply that he dumps her because he's too happy with her? The idea is that he's in a pattern of dating her, feeling tied down, leaving, then realizing that what he had was better than what he imagined being free would be like, and coming back. Is "you don't know what you've got until it's gone" really that alien a concept to write a song about? Nicks (it seems) is finally sick of it, and has decided that he isn't worth being with if he isn't going to stick around, since his "love" isn't genuine.Fetzilla wrote:Ms. Nicks now goes on to say that he going to be lonley in his new found bachelorhood. And continues on saying that the memory of what he had is going to drive him mad. This is 100% grade A crazy. Any woman who thinks that a guy dumps her because he is too happy when he is with her has some serious issues.
