haha, I think it helps to bring the average age to maybe around 20? Which I think could be acceptable.

Wow, I'm kinda surprised that so many of us are up in the panhandle, I'm in Niceville. It's right next to Destin which kind of a miniature Panama City between PC and Pensacola. Tourists drive very, very badly here too.

Hah, we beat you down in a football game last year. That's uhh... your fault for having such a nice name!

In any case, punkymonkey is desperately bugging me to come to one, it's like... weird.

Did anyone ever see Agnostia or the later incarnation Dearestazazel? They're from Niceville/Ft. Walton and they fucking rawk. They don't tour anymore though. I'm trying to think of other awesome bands from Florida but I got nothing atm.

I'm really not sure where in Tampa because I have no idea who all is interested, what the ages of everyone would be, an what we'd all be able to do.

Unless we do mini-meetups. (ie something during the day that everyone can do regardless of age, but then do other things later in the evening, etc.)

Florida people suck at commitment.

Also, Punky is moving to Colorado[1], so there goes the most enthusiastic monkey in the bunch.

I don't blame you. I plan to leave whenever possible. I'm thinking Boston or Waterloo, as that seems to be where the xkcdians are.

So. It seems any possible meetups have been utterly blown to smithereens at this point.

I think it's still possible. I was originally thinking of some kind of summer 2010 meetup. It would give people in other states time to arrange a vacation here if they wanted. But I'm not really sure how to really bring attention to it other than by spamming the shit out of people.... which I do not want to do.

*sigh*

I'm right outside of Orlando and pretty much willing to drive anywhere in the state for a gathering (except Miami).

does that mean you would go to the keys. Miami is not that bad, although there's not much to do that I'm aware of in Miami (as in daytime family frendlyish things to do)besides the beach.

Lets see, there is Parrot Jungle Island, which sucks compared to the old Parrot Jungle, but is still okay for a one time visit. There is Monkey Jungle, though that is more like Homestead than Miami. There is the Metrozoo, which is actually worth getting a membership to, especially if you like big cats (try walking around the tiger exhibit and freaking people out by making them think you are standing inside the enclosure). There are quite a lot of parks, which are rather nice during the day, and some which are even nice at night if you don't mind a possible tresspassing charge.
Miami just has a bad rep, thats all...

Its infinitely better than Melboring Fl...

I'd say wait a bit before going to an xkcdian meetup. You don't have to, but I think it would be best.

I think that if we actually want to do something that we actually start planning. I've been in the rut that we're all in now.

I love the Keys. I've just never had a good time in the dozen or so times I've been to Miami and it would take a really spectacular reason to get me to go back.

I'm out for any potential meetups. Been working two jobs since November (started one in september, picked up my second in October, got a job offer for more money at the end of November, left the first second job to accept the more money job as my second job - worked part time there until getting screwed over at my first job, then became full time at more money job, and went to part time at the first job - make sense?) ... so yeah, I work too much for a meetup. :/ And when I do have time off, it's spent with my kid.... not other people's kids. :p
