I had a leaving party. A company made spit roast lamb and new potatoes and I made courgette and sweetcorn bake and salad. I forgot to take pics of lunch, except for the desert which I made- cupcakes! I made vanilla, chocolate, caramel and strawberry ones with buttercream frosting.

I've only seen it done before with chocolate cookie crust (or Oreo, complete with filling), pudding-like filling, and possibly whipped cream on top. That one there looks awesome.

Perhaps related to the Grasshopper drink--creme de menthe and half and half...and umm a blender? (Not sure the mix contents for it).

The mint there is a giveaway for my hypothesis.

Dessert?? That looks like something savoury, like an herbed cream cheese loaf or summat. Unless it's pistachio and finely-chopped mint, but ... wait, is that a mint leaf, or is it something else?

Last night I made the most incredible banana nut bread: It was light and fluffy on the inside, with the perfect flavor of banana and nut and spices, and the top of it was a bit crusty and crunchy without being too much; the ultimate contrast in texture. It. Was. AMAZING.

I also made some cranberry pumpkin bread a few weeks ago that turned out incredibly delicious (fresh cranberries make all the difference!) and I will have to post pictures some time. I am sitting in my office salivating at the memory right now...

<3 banana nut bread. But, no pictures? For shame!
Rinsaikeru wrote:Maybe pistachio, mint, matcha? Ummm a green themed cake thing? I think. Maybe?

Those don't look at all like pistachios to me. More like adzuki beans, which would make sense with matcha. The garnish doesn't look like mint to me, but if it's a Japanese creation, could very well be a type of mint I haven't seen before. I'm also not sure mint is the best complement for matcha and adzuki, though. Ooh, mystery!

You're right! it does look like adzuki. I was just on a pistachio train based on colour. It's gotta be a matcha cake...looks like it might be some kind of mint--maybe.

When we lived in Cambridge, we lived just a 10 minute walk or so away from a fantastic little Japanese place. It was so good. And cheap. I am missing the shrimp tempura udon terribly.

I will argue that the top two are nasty because they are custards, but that's debatable. The last cake had no flavoring whatsoever and was iced with (more or less) tinted crisco, since it was a practice cake so... yeah, probably not so tasty. The other two cakes are two of my favorite kinds, and facilitate my love for filling things with jam. ^_^
