Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
In case anyone hasn't noticed, Steam is having an Early Holiday Sale. Myself, I'm very tempted by the Lucas Arts Premium Pack. I do own quite a few of those titles already, of course, but for various consoles rather than PC, and it would be nice to not have to fire up my old xbox just to play KotOR again. On the other hand, none of those games are supported under Windows 7, and quite a few don't even support Vista. Oh well, there are always work-arounds I suppose.
Because phlogiston.
Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
How I wish there was a proper RSS feed for all Steam deals. But it's easy enough to check in Wednesdays and Fridays.

I was going to buy Dragon Age when it went on sale, but then I realised I would still be getting it cheaper when I bought it from Direct2Drive UK, who are, incidentally, having a Thanksgiving sale.

Osmos is on offer for £2 at the moment. Get it. It's fantastic.

What would Baron Harkonnen do?
Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
I already bough Dragon Age and Batman, so I think my immediate future is in no need of more games, thank you very much! Although the rediculously low price is a mitigating factor, I don't think I need another game unless it's spectacular. The thq package is tempting, but I think I own too many of the titles already to justify it. Maybe if the deal was there before I had gotten Saint's row...

Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
I'm tempted to buy Fallen Earth... I went through it logically and decided I should buy it because I've been following it's development for years, really want to play it, it's cheaper than it's ever gonna be anywhere else and even though I've vowed not to play any new games until my exams are over, I can just keep it and not install it until I allow myself to. I don't even have to make my account until I'm ready! But I can't quite bring myself to buy it. It's a whole £15!
...I'm really tight.

Unlike me, who just bought the THQ pack despite already owning four of the games in it >.>
Well worth it though, even from what little I've played of company of heroes and red action gorilla so far. Titan Quest seems pretty good so far too, despite my not liking Diablo-esque games much.

Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
I really want to buy the THQ pack, I really do. But I know I won't be given extra copies of Company of Heroes + Expansions, Dawn of War + Expansions, Dawn of War 2, Red Faction's, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., or Saint's Row 2. The games left in the pack are more than $50 combined, but... I'd really feel like I'm getting ripped off by not getting those extra copies. We really need to get Valve to do something about that.

Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
So I bought it. With 45 minutes to spare. I'm regretting it... even though I know that I made the right decision. I guess it might be this business that I'm doing of buying games when they're cheap and then not playing them... kind of feels like I'm wasting money.
Maaaan, my hatred of spending money makes it really difficult to have stuff.
EDIT: Ok, read the manual. Regret has morphed into excitement.

Madballs in Babo: Invasion: £2.00

And in Euro because fuck me I guess:
Left 4 Dead 2: 37.49 (nicely done valve)
Knights of the Old Republic: 2.24 (you really do want to wring every last penny out of me, don't you?)
Mini Ninjas: 19.99
Dead Space: 9.49
Cities XL Limited Edition: 24.49
Madballs in Babo: Invasion: 2.00
Majesty 2: 9.99
I wonder if Majesty 2 is worth trying... And I'm tempted to buy Kotor simply because the game I have sitting on my shelf crashes when I try to play it. The steam version might *worK*.

You're a giant among men, sir. Thanks. I should make it to friday afternoon with this stuff. It's weird- I bought it for CoH and DoW II mostly, cos it was about as much as DoW II anyway, but now I'm getting oddly excited about the Titan games and Red Faction and all those ones. Yay. It will be a good Christmas holiday.

I've yet to try L4D1, so I'm not interested in £5 less on the 'sequel'. Dawn of Wars I own already. Since £1.75 is less than my daily expenditure on stuff like lunch, I went for KOTOR. Might be nice to experience in advance of the future MMO.

That's right. Every time one of these sales rolls along there is at least one game among them that is totally worth buying and more than worth what they ask for it, so when that happens I have to ask myself whether or not I was in any way interested in this game in the first place. That's the thing about bargains, you think you're saving money by buying something discounted, but not if you weren't thinking of spending that money in the first place.

The store on the client is back up. Next sales: L4D -75%, Order of War -75%, Trine -50%, Borderlands -33%, Resident Evil 5 -50%, Spore -50% and City of Heroes: Architect Edition 50% off.
You should buy Borderlands so that I have more people to play with! And you shouldn't buy Resident Evil 5 if you're charged in euros cause D2D is offering it for 50% off too.

Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
Somewhat tempted by L4D at £6.24. Is it good enough of a game to log on, find some random PUGs and play with, or is it only worth it, as the trailer says, with the team being a set of four friends?
Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
Keep in mind they're going to be doing this all over again a month from now.
Still, Ghostbusters at $9.99 is sorta tempting. How's Trine?

But then, it's their client, and I suppose it must be of great comfort to them to know that every potential source of money will see the site with exactly the same user experience.)LTK wrote:The store on the client is back up.

I was wondering why Steam couldn't display screenshots any more after I uninstalled Internet Explorer. They should really give you an option to link it to your default browser.
New offers:
EVE Online: Apocrypha -75%
Battlefield 2 Complete Collection -50%
Lucidity -75%
Trackmania United Forever -50%
Prince of Persia -50%
World of Goo -75%
Guild Wars Trilogy -50%
It's a bit pointless to offer World of Goo now that they've just had a pay-what-you-want sale, isn't it?

Can someone provide objective justification for not spending $2.50 on Lucidity? I've read the reviews, and it doesn't sound all that great, but how bad can something be before it becomes not worth $2.50?!
The really insidious part is if they offered a four-pack of Madballs, Osmos, Lucidity, and something else for $10, all at once, I could probably pass it up with much less hesitation.

If Steam is still working on your computer at all, you haven't really uninstalled Internet Explorer. Ask yourself if you want to play the game and don't look at the price tag.
I fell for it, though. Re-bought KOTOR because the game crashes and I hope it won't crash when I get it through steam.

I definitely picked up the THQ pack for $50
. Anyone know if there's still a good multiplayer following for these games?

Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)
I was playing DoW I a few weeks ago and there are games up, sure. I assume CoH is also good, considering it hasn't had a sequel. DoW II will have a good following (possibly too good for not-totally-dedicated play) as will Red Faction: Guerilla. Iunno about the rest of then though.
