So I'm a-posting here because when I'm in the UK (mostly England) late August I am also making a trip up to Edinburgh (hi Scotland folks!) - and Jesse is coming along with me too. So...Any Edinburghorurmites wanna meet up with us? Dates are *checks calendar* August 27th and 28th (a Thursday and Friday).

Kind of short notice, but the Gude Cause march is on Saturday. I know some members of the university feminists are walking it but I think there are over 2000 people registered for the walk (though you don't have to register) and nobody has set a meeting place. It'd be nice to know I'm going to have someone to walk with. If no one can make it I'll probably just see if I can tag along with random people there... I'm getting quite good at tagging along with people since fresher's week.

Hello anybody who can make it to Edinburgh on the 2nd of December who also has someone they wouldn't mind hugging and/or kissing in public. The university's lgbt action group is staging an anti-homophobia flash mob (Lovemob) from 1.15 to 1.25 in front of Edinburgh University's main library (the one in George Square, A in this list). The idea is that lots of straight and gay couples turn up, stand around for 10 minutes making out or just being close to one another and then leave again. I don't know if anybody here would be able to take part (I probably won't be because Lolsaur will be in Aberdeen) but even if you can't, turning up with a camera phone or whatever and later having access to youtube and the like is pretty helpful.

The idea is that some homophobic people see a lot of gay couples in amongst a lot of straight couples and think "Hey, maybe this isn't completely abnormal or disgusting or whatever. It's just the same as what the straight people are doing" and the university is slightly less homophobic. It might not work but it should be fun and it's a lot better than the other ideas that came up (which mainly involved insulting straight people the same way that homophobic people might insult gay people).

Bump to remind people about summer. Also because I'm now starting to get things organised, and will have a flat from July (well, august, as I'm away all July. Also I'm not likely to be in it much until September and the start of uni, but it's somewhere people can crash for a day or two if need be).

Anything more specific than "month-ish" that anyone's got yet? Even just a preferred day (Saturday or Sunday is best for me, but I can probably fit in anything).

I'll probably be away at some point in July (when expedia starts recognising Edinburgh as a place again I might be able to expand on that) and, as always, it's easier for me to meet on days that aren't Thursdays or Saturdays (and if it was a Sunday I'd probably need to know a little bit in advance so I would know not to get overtime for that day). Other than that I'm good though.

My free days are dependant on what I'm doing this summer (I'm hoping to go back to Dunnottar Castle for the summer job this year), so if I do get back to Dunnottar, i could have Friday-Saturday free or Sunday-Monday free. If I don't get back to Dunnottar, then I could potentially have the entire summer free. Any time in the summer is fine by me, so August would work, since July isn't an option for most so far.

I'll try and get a final decision back on the castle soon.

As far as meet ups are concerned I think I'm going to have to wait until after my maths resit. I don't know when that will be except that it's mid-end August. I move into my new flat on the 28th of August so sometime after then would be good.

This is fine, the meetups so far have mostly been weekend-based I believe - once uni starts back that's probably all that's available anyway. There're places to go that aren't pubs, if people aren't 18 (outside? please, weather?), and pubs can still be a possibility if we do a daytime meet (depending on the pub, of course).

I'm getting into the flat the now, so will be living in town on a permanent basis pretty soon. I'd be up for a meetup... whenever, really.

My maths resit is on the 19th of August (the day after my birthday - boo) so after then I'm free any time. Sundays are still best for me. Saturday could if we do the 21st of August since I have that week off work anyway but I would have to know in advance so I don't book my train ticket back to Aberdeen to be before then.

Lolsaur Baldur (I guess I should start calling him his new username since he hasn't used the old one in a while and I don't want to confuse people) works at the weekends now though so I think evening meets would be best for him (but I'll let him confirm this himself).

Teapot is correct, I work Saturdays and Sundays 1215 to 1815, but I am free after then. I'd prefer not to have a meet-up before work. My actual days off are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but those are awkward days. I can definitely make the evening of the 21st, but I am aware that getting back at night could be awkward for some people, if they live outwith Edinburgh proper.

Um... 21st might not suit me as much as I thought because I was silly and booked my haircut for the 20th. In Aberdeen. Which means currently I'm coming down to Edinburgh from Aberdeen on the night of the 18th for my exam on the 19th and then I'm getting the train back up before 1 on the 20th and then I have to come back down at some point before the 23rd so I can get on a train to London. Also at some point during all that I need to get stuff packed so I can move into my new flat with no problems.
