As some have already mentioned, there's already a webcomic thread. The best webcopmic I can recommend is Gunnerkrigg Court. Questionable Content is also good.

I recently discovered FreakAngels.

The navigation is a bit annoying in that there's no consistent "next page" button, but it's a good story

I am *shocked* that no one has yet to mention LilFormers.

I can only assume that there's a dearth of Transformers fans around here.

Granted, its original selling point was that you got to see adorable versions of the Transformers doing endearingly dorkish things, but the comic's branched out to poking cutesy fun at all sorts of popgeeklore now.

One of the comics I read (and which I feel the need to advertise because it's drawn and written by a friend) is grumble. It's a weird comic because... well the characters don't speak english. they speak Grumble (a gibberish script which isn't impossible to read if you figure out the cipher, but isn't english).

It's really well done though, because while you can't read it, that isn't the point. The basic gist comes through in action and mood.

So, yeah. check it out. Because my friend is awesome. Yeah, I'm done advertising. It's only been what? 4000 posts...

My favorite webcomic is definitely Boy on a Stick and Slither. Aside from that and xkcd, I read Questionable Content, Penny Arcade, Perry Bible Fellowship, Moo and Keo, and some of a bunch of other comics such as Dinosaur Comics and the Least I Could Do. I sort of read VGCats, but Scott is so lazy nowadays.

Edit: I recently got all the way through LICD. I also read A Softer World. Once I get through dinosaur comics, I'll start reading Weregeek, as I met the creaters at Calgary Comicon and have been instructed by some friends to read it.

I'm probably a complete dork for being partial to toy photocomics. I just discovered Irregular Webcomic! and (the recently concluded) Terror Island through TV Tropes. I also follow Darths and Droids (also from the creator of IW!), which I of course discovered through its spiritual predecessor DM of the Rings. As far as actual drawn stuff is concerned, I'm hesitant to try anything besides good ol' xkcd, but you'll never know.

XKCD, of course, and Questionable Content, and (hahaha) Dr. McNinja. And Gunnerkrigg Court. Those are the biggies. (Though GC's really best if you only check it out once in a while, so you can take a huge dose all at once.)

Also: I'm surprised that more people here don't read 1/0 (pronounced "one over zero," I think). It's hilarious, and philosophical, and just all sorts of wonderful. Its author stopped at 1000 strips, but he now does this: http://tailsteak.com/. It isn't quite as good, but there's still some great stuff in there. Tailsteak really just has a personality that comes across in everything he does. Pity it updates so sporadically.

Also: I've been thinking of crawling through the Achewood archives this summer. God help me. All I've read is that Leon Sumbitches storyline, but that was wonderful. Still, years of archives of that stuff... I'm scared.

Also: I occasionally check out Dinosaur Comics and Subnormality. I'd check out Subnormality more often, but it only updates once a week. That guy's got some more stuff on his site though, and it's worth a gander.

Also: Holy crap I just discovered Dresden Codak. I wish there was more. My life is meaningless.

Also: I used the word "also" far too much in this post, and it no longer looks like a word. I sometimes now want to spell it "aslo," but that just gets me thinkin' of Lion Jesus.

I recently discovered Ursula Vernon's Digger, which is... hmm... humorous epic fantasy with talking wombats?

And (of course) I've always been an enormous fan of HERO, which is... uh... slightly surreal allegorical fantasy with a friendly shapeshifting motorcycle/duck/flying demon mount.

Huh,that's weird. I can see that the text is definitely smaller than, say, xkcd, but before I checked it seemed totally normal-sized. o.o Probably an individual thing.

I also read Questionable Content, User Friendly, and sometimes ctrl alt del.
I discovered Questionable Content at 11:00 pm, on a day when I had a 1 page spanish paper to write by the next day. I didn't finish the paper till around 5:00 am. But it was a fun six hours!

On a side note, does anyone recognise which webcomic this is from? It's the first page, and the rest of the comic isn't like this. I can't remember anything else about it though, I started reading it a few months ago but only had the time to look at the first couple of comics.

Sorry. I'll keep that in mind in the future. I actually only keep up with XKCD regularly. The rest are read intermittently.

I was keeping up with 8 Bit Theater for a while. It was good if you like FF and D&D jokes a lot. It was my introduction to webcomics.

I find Dr McNinja kind of infuriating when it's page by page. Because some pages have plot, and some pages are just six panels of Dr McNinja walking carefully across a temple or something. I just check it every month or two.
