Pokemon names aren't really made for this thread. Most of the wordplay in them is pretty clear.

Which is what makes them perfect for this thread, they're so mind-bogglingly obvious that you feel stupid when you realize what they mean, even years later.
For example, I didn't get Arcanine (Arcane + Canine) until a random class discussion in English class brought it up.

I am possibly the least observant being in the 'verse. It just occurred to me, after 4.5 years of owning this house, that the shower door closes with magnetic strips. I've always been aware of the way it closes fairly securely, like a fridge door. I must have just assumed it was cleverly weighted or something.

On every Facebook post, there's gray text that says when it was posted. I just realized that it's actually a hyperlink.

Woah, I was wondering where that link was. I mostly browse FB on my phone and I like the way that it goes between the news feed and the post comments. I didn't see the way to have a post + comments as a single item on a page. Thanks!

One of the characters in Final Fantasy 9 is Vivi, whom you find out not to far in the game is actually a living doll.
"vivi" is Spanish for "He lives."

I agree completely.
The internet removes the two biggest aids in detecting sarcasm:
1)The tone of voice
2)the assumption that the other person is sane

I had a similar experience with Get Smart and Inspector Gadget... and Don Adams was even playing basically the same character in both (I think I read somewhere that the latter was at least inspired by the former?)... but even though I watched both at around the same time in my childhood, I still never spotted it until I happened to spot the name in the credits one day, long after I stopped following either show.

This seems to happen to me quite a lot. Today a text came in on someone's phone during a meeting, and it made the Beep Beep Beep, Beeeep Beeeep, Beep Beep Beep noise. I've heard that noise goodness knows how many times and thought nothing much of it. Today however, the Eureka moment struck. The limit of my knowledge of Morse code is knowing that the morse code for SOS is three dots, three dashes, three dots, and I suddenly thought, "I bet the Morse for "M" is two dashes, to give "SMS".
And lo and behold, it is.
What personal "Eureka!" moments have you had?
Edited to add: Thank you to whoever moved this. I searched but obviously not well enough.

Yeah.. no, see, I don't think that fits. The only way a person would notice that is if they were all up on their Disney voice actors AND artificial heart developers. It's.. pretty easy to not notice that.
The two people enjoying Tostitos, the arrow in the Fed-Ex logo.. these are things you only need eyes to notice.

i So, I've seen all of Firefly and Castle, and I watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and, of course, I learned that Nathan Fillion is the bestest actor ever. I looked him up on IMBd and found out HE'S PRIVATE FREAKING RYAN. I suppose that me not noticing might be a result of not having ever seen Saving Private Ryan, but HE'S PRIVATE FREAKING RYAN.
