avatar pic by URL

why isn't this enabled? This would allow people to link it to their gravatar accounts.

I say:
either get the gravatar mod, or
allow adding profile pics by URL, like the PHPBB support forums do.

Pretty sure no. There's a few reasons, but my favourite is that I don't want to come online to see someone's avatar turned to goatse when the site admin he was leeching the image from found out about it.

Edit: that's for just linking by URL, for specific Gravatar stuff only davean could say whether it was feasible.

sites that don't support it:

google
yahoo, which I don't have a profile pic on
facebook
digg, which is linked to use the facebook one
reddit
