The Unnamed MoA Project

When misterk showed me the script he wrote entitled 'Avatar', I knew we had something I could sell to one of the big studios. "Just one problem," I told him. "I know that James Cameron is already working on a film with that name. Plus, I heard something about some sort of airbender character that also has something to do with avatars. But, I really love what you've done here: an entire movie about an obscure internet forum."

Well, that was almost three years ago. This project sailed through pre-production with hardly a hiccup, although we still hadn't come up with a title. Tragedy struck two days ago, though, on the 4th day of filming. Our script supervisor wasn't on the set after lunch, so I sent my PA BigNose to fetch her. Well, he found her in the trailer we use as a mobile office, but she wouldn't be making it back to the set. She was dead. Apparently of an overdose, although we haven't gotten official word from the coroner on that yet. She was a good person, and I had enjoyed working with her, but that didn't mean we could afford to slow down our shooting schedule. So, we continued shooting.

Then, yesterday morning I got a call from BigNose before I had even got to the lot. "There has been another death," he told me. "The best boy seems to have fallen from the rigging. It isn't clear yet why his safety harness didn't work."

We continued working, but everyone on the cast and crew was in a pretty somber mood. Sure, death isn't unheard of here in Hollywood. But two deaths in two days is a bit unnerving. My very talented director, Dr Ug, was suddenly much more temperamental than he had been. For one scene yesterday, he must have made those poor actors do about 50 takes. When cycoden would ask Dr Ug what he was looking for, the only response was a muttered, "I'll know it when I see it. From the top." I left after take 42.

Then today, when Rakysh headed to wardrobe to get his 'couch potato' costume, he discovered yet another dead body. Our beloved costume designer had been stabbed through the heart with a knife from the prop department. And, finally, it all started making sense to me. We had a mafia infestation on our hands. So, although we had a movie to make, we also had to do the only logical thing: start lynching anyone we found suspicious!

The standard rules apply (originally written by Vox and modified by pretty much everyone else).
Spoiler:
1. Do not talk about the game outside this thread.
2. DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE GAME OUTSIDE THIS THREAD. (Well, there is that whole "discussion thread" thing...)That, and IRC. You can talk, just no giving secret information to certain people or whatnot. The real game happens here.
3. Please stay (at least mostly) on topic.
4. Don't lurk through the whole game; if you need to drop out, TELL ME. Really bad lurkers REALLY PISS ME OFF. We have replacement players just in case real life gets in the way of your mafia playing.
5. If you aren't part of the game, please post in spoilers in the discussion thread for outside analysis. (*grabbing popcorn* is okay, just don't be too disruptive.)
6. Once I say that it's nighttime, do not post in the thread AT ALL please do not post anything of content in the thread. *sleeps* posts, etc, I don't care. Talking is fine. Just don't make analysis or accusation type posts.
7. If you die, don't say anything for the rest of the game except a simple, "Bah, you got me," which reveals no information.
8. You may not post verbatim or quote from your role PM. Paraphrasing is fine.
9. You may not edit your posts.

Obviously, I have made the rolenames public information. But, alignment is being randomly assigned.

I will be sending out the PMs with alignment and any actions/powers/abilities you might have shortly. No need to confirm, but feel free to post anything you want to get into character.

First.

Too bad the alignment is assigned randomly, else I would've said the actors are scum. =P

I'm the key grip! But there's no best boy. I have to do all the work myself. I hope you don't need too many lights for the next scene, Dr Ug.

Was the flavour written with the roles in mind? Cos flavour analysis is a bit useless if the roles are random.

Yeah, that flavor was written before alignments were randomly assigned. And actions and such are based on rolenames to an extent, but I don't expect the connections to be obvious.

Now I've got a few notes for all the actors... I'm sure everyone won't mind me sitting in, right? I mean I'm the guy who wrote this stuff! Five years I've been perfecting this script- I always knew I was onto a winner. A lot of people told me to change the name after that whole thing with those smurfs in space, but I figured the name WAS the film.

Uh, so yeah, interesting times- so possibly quite random powers distributed- we might be able to guess what kind of powers people might have, if thats worth looking into.

producer handles stuff- gets the money, chooses the director, gathers together the crew, keeps everyone happy.

I really want to speculate on powers here, but its kind of tricky. I'm sure our roles must have significance beyond flavour, but considering our mafia are proper mafia, I'm not sure what we might have. Also, correctly speculating who the doctor or cop is seems like a really, really stupid idea.

Actually, a gaffer has nothing to do with sound. You might find this link handy if you are not familiar with any of the terms. Although, as previously stated, I don't really expect the connection between each player's rolename and his/her actions to be obvious.

I will also add that there is no cult and no jesters in the game.

So Townie, Scum, Doctor, Cop, Lovers, Godfather, Vig/SK, Miller are possibles, although I would probably keep to the first 4 as a must and the others as probables.

Let get on with making the film peeps. Time is money and I'm not made of it.
Let's find that Mafia scum and make the film

I can. I don't think it'd be all that smart to kill the guy keeping this shindig going. At least, not without evidence of him being unscrupulous.
