Pulp or No Pulp

Postby saxmaniac1987 » Sat Jul 28, 2007 5:16 pm UTC

Do you prefer your OJ with or without pulp?

While I like the idea that orange juice with pulp is more natural and nutritious, every time I've had it i gag. Whatever.

I'll take it pulpy. Preferably fresh squeezed from valencia oranges.
So, I got tired of the fact that the appearance of my band name in my signature made my posts on this forum the dominant result when googling for my music. Anyway, if you think I might happen to be a good musician, you can test this theory here.

My family used to squeeze our own OJ, so I like it pulpy. Mmmmm!

If fresh, pulp is acceptable, but otherwise I prefer it without. I like my liquids without odd solid stuff that sticks between my teeth, thankyouverymuch.

OJ with pulp is great. When I buy OJ, I get Tropicana's "Lots of Pulp".

OJ without pulp has very little going for it. ;-)

...Both! It depends on my mood. Around here I usually pick up the calcium-enriched pulp-free. I love fresh-squeezed and pulpy though. It absolutely must be not from concentrate though.

In both cases, I down it like nobody's business, perhaps on two gallons a week or similar. Mmm, delicious juice....

I like some pulp, but the Tropicana "Lots of Pulp" is a bit much for me. And then there's the stuff my mom brought home from a farmer's market once. It wasn't so much "orange juice, with pulp" as it was "orange pulp, with juice". Have you ever poured out curdled milk? You know how it comes out in chunks? Yeah, that's how this stuff poured. When you have to chew your OJ, something has gone horribly wrong. My mom loved it, though.

I do not like pulp in my orange juice. All those tiny bits of orange feel like stowaways in the orange juice. Stowaway slugs. Also, it gets in my teeth.

Anyone notice that most of the people in this thread say that they like pulp but "No Pulp" is winning in the poll? Maybe that third option is skewing things.

If it's freshly squeezed orange juice then I don't really mind there being pulp, anything else and I'd rather it didn't.

when i was younger, if my family bought pulpy OJ i'd run it through a mesh strainer before i'd drink it. the pulp could be claimed or i would toss it out. nowi buy my OWN, and its wonderfully smoooooth. (and calcium enriched)

No plup. Though as someone I'm to lazy to quote said, it's okay if it's fresh squeezed.

Definitely pulp. I can see how some people think it has a really weird texture, but it doesn't bother me.

I never drink OJ from concentrate (too acidic and it tastes like piss), but they don't put pulp in that, do they?

I put the last option since I'm not too fussy. I just like the flavor of the orange juice, I don't care too much about the texture. As long as it's at least liquid. If it was solid, that'd be a bit wierd. Like, more solid than the fruit.

What, you don't like dehydrated orange? I am surprised at the number of radical opinions on this netoweb. I like orange juice pulpy, like they just took an orange and put it through a blender.

Sticker? Seeds? By rind, you mean skin?

Oranges here don't have stickers, or seeds, and I eat the skin anyway. I would take off that little green bit where it connects to the tree, cause that hurts my teeth.

No pulp, calcium fortified.

OJ was totally guilty, though. Yeah, "if he did it." Such gall!

Pulp please! I find OJ without pulp lacks substance.
On the other hand, ridiculous amounts of pulp, such as the "orange pulp, with juice" situation, are totally not welcome. I prefer it to still be easy to drink.

No pulp, unless I have squeezed the orange myself, and then a little bit is OK.

The texture just bothers me. A beverage should not be fibrous in nature. Eew.

Pulp. Because the pulp-free tastes unnatural, and pulp gives the illusion of having come from oranges more successfully.

If it's fresh-squeezed, I can handle as much pulp as is there. The grocery-store OJ's pulp isn't the same once it's been in a refrigerated case for a while. Also, since when did the "some pulp" option disappear from my grocery store shelf? Now, it's either no pulp or lots of pulp, neither of which is what I really want.

Pulp is important for the digestion and fiber. Good health is fiber-based. I think the Bush administration is trying to repress the rights of pulpers by producing smear propaganda accusing pulpers of funding terrorism and hitting little girls. Also, I like the texture of pulp in a good fresh-squeezed, which is the only kind worth drinking.
