The Flash bits are nifty, but everything feels so much more thoroughly railroaded than Problem Sleuth, as if the author knows exactly where this is going and won't stand for anyone building a fort and stepping into an imaginary world this time around. For instance, you already know what's going to happen to the wizard statue and the eldritch princess. It's kind of disappointing. But we'll see.

And the video edits really scare me sometimes.

To be honest, I don't mind all that much. Sure, the silliness is drained a bit, but it's coherent and might end in a reasonable period of time. PS had issues, some big and some not, with both.

Hopefully a balance will be struck at some point. I really do love the silliness.

No, no, that's not it. When you keep a combo going you get more and more points. The general top is around 2 million. A few people have glitched out and gotten, like, 12 million points for one rock, but those people were removed from the list.

Homestuck is definitely improving from a base of "Pretty darn awesome". Go read / watch / listen / suggest.

Awesome as that last Flash animation was, if the confusing and seemingly-railroaded nature of Homestuck was putting you off, the current Intermission is a brilliant return to form.

I'm really quite astonished by Mr. Hussie's occasional forays into wordplay. I can't tell if he's some kind of talented genius or if he's just madly spamming a thesaurus, though.

It also makes me wonder how many other people there might be out there who can write like that but will forever escape public notice for lack of a popular webcomic.

Bro fights in a manner extremely similar to Dave, so I imagine the turntable was for time control purposes. I mean, he was keeping up with a being who could blitz an army; if it wasn't all speed I wouldn't be surprised. Though, given it's Bro and stuff, it could just be an awesome platform.

So, Lord English really is the demon. I saw a lot of theories on it on the fora, and it made sense, but confirmation is nice. Does this make Bec a malefactor because he's a FIRST GUARDIAN? Or is the title unrelated to English?

I am so confused. I went to the site and it just looks like a choose your own adventure, except everyone else had chosen all the adventures already and nothing was very funny.

Can someone explain what exactly this thing IS, and is it supposed to be like a game? I just saw 1 text command on every page to click on with no option to do anything else.

That's not entirely inaccurate. Mr. Hussie has really gone overboard with this latest one. (I am really getting tired of reading about these trolls.)

I recommend starting with the older adventures - Jailbreak, Bard Quest, and Problem Sleuth, in that order. (The first two are pretty short.) They're tied much more strongly to user input (in all its absurdist glory) than Homestuck is, and once you see the progression you might be able to appreciate Homestuck a little more.

The troll arc is ending soon, I think.

It is / was a CYOA type of thing, but the archives aren't the choosing stage. Choices are made in the form of suggestions, and the author goes with the suggestions that appeal to him for the next command to draw. Bardquest explains why branching story doesn't work. This has been toned down in Homestuck for a lot of reasons. One is that opening the suggestion box makes the forum crash as people log in to post suggestions.

Reading the early adventures first will probably be better. You'll get more of the jokes, and you'll be able to slog through Homestuck Part 1, maybe. (Homestuck part 1 isn't exactly fast or very funny.)

Oh, man. I love the trolls the best. I liked the beginning just fine, but both the Exiles and the Trolls are way greater than the original kids, to me.

I'm okay with the trolls, in fact they're growing on me, but I really prefer the original kids. It's a giant flashback, in a way, and I will be kind of glad when it's over.

Also, the ectobiology/theory of time travel strikes me as kind of bullshit, which bothers me. But, the story is still amusing enough that I forgive it.

Allow me to point out that the payoff, the flash update, was so worth it.

The art took a level in badass.
The music was better than ever.
What happened was pretty awesome.

What happened was notably still troll related, so if you didn't like them, I don't know what you'll think. Still, best flash so far for me, maybe tied with WV's ascent.

The art was pretty nice, the music was surprisingly meh to me, and I don't even remember what happened. Bluh Bluh someone beat the shit out of Vriska must be Tuesday. And there was a bunch of chain mind-control stuff, yeah? Vriska blinded Terezi... we haven't known that for months. Yeah, rewatched it to check if I missed anything and no, I really didn't. It wasn't bad or anything, just... I'm really starting to lose touch with the whole thing. I can still keep up with it but I really liked it for a while there. Dammit. ;_;

I was hoping that the flash would be an end-of-act flash, goddamn it. Sigh.
