I prefer Purim because hamentashen cookies help me not to have a hangover better than candy. But I love my twice a year intense food/alcohol/costume extravaganzas.
This year I'm going as a purple crayon in a costume I made myself. I made it for Purim last year with two friends in matching costumes (one was a pink crayon, one was a glittery green crayon). Next year I'll probably do something else, but for now I'm too cheap to get a new costume. And it's *such* a good costume. I got a few yards of purple felt and some black material and ribbon, cut out the word "crayola", hot glued it down the front, and velcroed it to fit me. Since I'm in New England, it's freezing for most Halloweens (plus the costume is not super secure over my boobs) so I wear a purple long sleeve shirt and purple leggings underneath, and black shoes.

I don't know what to be.

I kind of want to be Christopher Robin but I was Pajama Sam last year and I don't want to make nostalgic costumes my thing.

For a costume or real life? Cause $50 is ri-fuckin-diculous for a costume.

Not if you can make a semi-plausible case to also wear them in real life. That's most of my costume purchases.

I don't have anything to go to on Halloween, so I don't think I'll be dressing up. I have some ideas but I think that getting my costume on to sit and play videogames seems a tad silly.

If you'll wear the boots in a non-costume context (and you totally should) then I say go for it, podbaydoor!

All right, bad news, the boots in question were sold out of the size and color I needed. The good news is I ordered
these boots instead.
Now for the next burning question: Should I get white lipstick or silver lipstick? It's kind of ambiguous in the comics what color her lipstick is.

I'd go with silver, I'd imagine it would have a bit more staying power than a white lipstick. If you could find a pearly white lipstick rather than a white matte lipstick though, you may want to try that out.

Yeah, I tried an experiment with matte white body paint and needless to say, it did not work out. But pearly white sounds about right.
It's kind of funny that I'm spending this much money and effort on a costume, but I am refusing on principle to dye my hair blonde or wear a wig. Because Asians look terrible in blonde. If any nerd raises an issue with it (if they get that far), I'll just tell them, "Imagine that I'm Emma Frost after she switched bodies with Psylocke," or something.

I spent three weeks studying a couple Astonishing X-men books and the Ghost Box book (I get bored at home without internet, okay?) and even then I still couldn't tell. The shading varied a lot between artists. Like,

this.

That's just the thing, my Wingman is the masked luchador guy. I'm four inches taller, and twice the man he is (size-wise). I can't wear a mask as we want to be a mixed-skills team. He's the high-flyer, I'm the wall of humanity.

Maybe go for a more leather-and-chains biker look? Or maybe minimalism, like an unmoveable bouncer. Something suggesting elements of a suit, though you want to not accidentally end up in Chippendales territory.

Okay, fine. Back to leather-and-chains biker. Or...fireman? Police officer?
(I may be confusing WWE Tag Team with porn.)Or how about this, Aztec god. Quetzalcoatl was supposed to be a pale white dude, and who's paler and whiter than you?
Quetzalcoatl allegedly went to Mictlan, the underworld, and created fifth-world mankind from the bones of the previous races (with the help of Chihuacoatl), using his own blood, from a wound in his penis, to imbue the bones with new life.

I was thinking of using a shirt I own that says "I > U", or another that says "I solve my problems through violence". Between that, my BDU pants, my tag team belt, and my jump boots, I'd look aggressive, but not "like" anything. I'm hoping to find an identity I can live with.

I have a similar problem. My current plans involve looking steampunky, but not "like" anything. It won't be so much a "costume" as "the clothes I sometimes wear on weekends anyway because I like how they look."
