I don't think I'll be able to make it, but on Thursday there's a Freezepop concert at Harpers Ferry (which is closing down at the end of the month). (details: http://www.freezepop.com/)

After including all taxes and fees, the floor section tickets are $50.075 each when purchasing two and shipping via standard USPS mail, which is no longer an available option. Holding at Will Call would result in the same price, or using Print-At-Home would raise them to $51.325 each.

So, it turns out that Boston is having its own version of the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert Rally to Restore Sanity. It's this Saturday at noon, on the Boston Common. I want to go! Anyone else?

Westboro Baptist Church is coming to protest all that is fun and good, or “remind these Jews that they bear the curse of their forefather’s murder of Christ. Further these college students of doomed america live for the devil himself, spending their energies on drunkeness, lust, sloth and greed rather than serving the Lord Almighty" at Brandeis University in Waltham on December 3rd. Supposedly they will be protesting from 8:30AM to 11ish?

As an alum of Brandeis, a current staff member, and one who prides herself on her drunkeness, lust, sloth and greed, I will be joining the counter protest. I am thinking about making giant angel wings a la the Laramie Project, turning my back to them, and singing in Hebrew. Perhaps also dancing the Hora and finding some people to make out with.

Anyone else want to join? It's a Friday and in Waltham but at least it's close to the commuter rail. :)

Oh hey, charolastra, I'm a Brandeis student and will be attending this.

I'm thinking of either handing our flowers and telling them I love them and understand that they're scared, OR, pointing out that I can see their wives ankles, and thus they should be stoned to death, as per holy text states. Cherry picking.

Anyone who comes to this protest can come to my apartment which is very nearby for pizza afterwards!

For the record, they're also hitting Framingham High School (from 6:55-7:25AM and again from 6:30 - 7:30PM), The Islamic Center of Boston in Wayland from 7:50 - 8:20, and the Harvard Hillel (which probably means somewhere around Harvard Yard that isn't technically Harvard property) from 10:00 - 10:30AM before they leave Boston.

If anyone chooses to come as a counterprotester, human shield, or bystander to any of the above events, PLEASE to not make physical or verbal contact with the Westboro Baptist Church. They are all surprisingly good lawyers and they make their existence by suing the pants off of anyone who in any way assaults them. And they're particularly skilled at getting a rise out of you.

It would be way more cool to have these douchebags show up and have everyone ignore them. Walk on past, shrug and leave. As long as they get people to pay attention they get what they want. When they pulled this same stunt here in Evanston, IL near Rosh Hoshanah, they gave up after two stops because no-one would get into an interaction with them. The Hillel people just stood across the street and stared until they left. Maybe call the police because they're blocking a sidewalk?

I'm hoping to be in the area when Bakey and Sarah are in town. Would anyone have some spare floor I could use? A couch would be the height of luxury. I have my own sleeping bag and pillow! I also have a car, so if it would be useful I could drive up and ferry folks around some.

The Juventas New Music Ensemble is performing a piece composed by a friend of mine on the 18th at the Museum of the Modern Renaissance. It's the one right in Powder House Circle. If you are feeling social as soon as you arrive I think it would be most awesome.

I am toying with the idea of going to Arisa, but will be wishy-washy and won't make a decision until the day of and buy tickets at the door. I know what the Sandry looks like and shall try to find her whilst there. Are there any actual plans for a meet up yet?

Anyone interested in politics?
The next few months will provide some great organizing opportunities as we work together to help create jobs, reach out to small businesses, and protect our progress on health reform.

In order to be successful, we need to make sure we're all on the same page. That's why this Saturday, March 12th, OFA Massachusetts is holding a volunteer training in Cambridge -- and you're invited.

Staff and volunteers will be gathering to discuss effective grassroots organizing tactics, creating and running events, recruiting more volunteers, and other ways to stay involved throughout 2011.

What: OFA volunteer training

Where: The Democracy Center
45 Mount Auburn St
Cambridge, MA 02139

When: Saturday, March 12th
1:00 pm
I want to get to a place where I am neither conforming nor rebelling but simply being.
