From what I'm getting, the guilt is only traveling in one direction (from right to left), much like a diode only permits current to flow in one direction.

This would be an interesting comic if it was a Zener diode instead xD I had a good laugh either way.

I understand diodes without any problems, but I didn't get the comic until I noticed that the band on the diode was drawn. I expected to be able to tell just out of the context, but once I noticed that the band was indeed present, it made the whole comic a lot easier to grasp. In hindsight, I suppose I could have figured it out without seeing the band.

Anyway, this isn't usually useful to me. It's basically like messaging someone but not reading their responses. I usually find that I need to know how the other person responded in order to effectively continue my argument.

Although, temporarily tuning people out can be very useful, of course.

Of course the title text adds something. He is saying that the guy cant apologize, because it will be blocked by the diode, the same way his first statement was blocked by the diode. Only the girl can talk, and only the guy can listen in this arrangement.

I hate to say it but you have the diode drawn wrong. For this joke to make sense the black end needs to be on her side. Then the current of apology will flow towards her and not towards him. This is assuming the diode drawn is a general purpose rectifier (1N4007).

I believe the term you are looking for is a 'large enough inverse voltage' in order to reach the reverse breakdown point. Upon reaching this point she would technically have to apologize at a much greater rate then he does.
