So, I was prepared for another typical prime-time comedy with this one, and I'm shockingly enjoying this show. It's quick, witty, intelligent humor, and they expect the audience to keep up with it.

Anyone else enjoying this little primetime surprise?

I have to say at first I was not impressed. The first few episodes just really weren't that great, but I was willing to give it a shot because of Joel McHale & Chevy Chase. Plus it was a new show and sometimes it takes a couple episodes to really get going.

I'm glad I had a little patience, though, because I'm really enjoying the show now.

Yeah, "Modern Warfare" was definitely one of my favorite episodes of the show so far.

I found the first few episodes alright, but nothing special. However, from there onwards I did really get into it, especially near the end of the season (I agree about Modern Warfare, that was one hell of an episode). I think the Mad Men reference in one episode just cemented my liking of it. The only problem is that it's not shown in the UK, which means that none of my friends have any idea what on earth it is.

I watched it through a week or two ago for the first time. I am enjoying it and I think it can get better, if done correctly. Best part so far has been the "donde esta la biblioteca" song.

Are there any similar shows that you can think of that have similar humour?

I feel that Arrested Development would be enjoyable to any Community fan, and Modern Family feels similar.

I've only seen four episodes, but there's definitely a lot of Arrested Development in the mix so far:

Abed = Tobias + Buster
Jeff = Gob + Michael
Britta = Lindsay + Lucille
Annie = Maeby + Tobias + Gob?
Troy = Annyong + STEVE HOLT
Pierce = George Sr. + Buster

Also, +1 for John Oliver.

Gotta say, the new episodes are getting a little too farc-y. It's almost like they ran out of character comedy too early and had to escalate things. And the show is making the big mistake Family Guy did - by making one previously "good" character so horrible that the show doesn't have a balance. Britta's no longer convincing as a potential romantic interest so episodes hinting at that plot arc now feel insincere.

I watched through the first season of this show recently. I almost didn't watch it. The first few episodes were too disjointed to be enjoyable. The writers didn't seem to know what they wanted to do with the characters, and had them change quite drastically episode to episode. The only reason I kept watching was there was always one scene towards the end of each episode that almost redeemed them for the blunders in characters. I'm glad I did, since after the third of fourth episode, they seemed to get it together and most of the rest of the episodes of the first season were really good. However:

I agree. The first episode or two of season two were fine. Not the best episodes of the series, but still entertaining enough. And the pop and lock competition at the end of the Oktoberfest episode was fun. However, the next few episodes just felt like they were trying too hard to put these characters into hi-larious situations. I didn't mind the space simulator episode, but it was on the cusp of being too far-fetched for me. I even felt the zombie episode was just too ridiculous and a little bit cliche.

But the latest two episodes have been decent, so hopefully the three I disliked will just turn out to be a bump in the road.

I could maybe start following this on hulu. How important is the first season to appreciating the current episodes? (I caught last weeks episode on the actual t.v., but even with deevee are, prime time viewing is pretty full)

I think that's what I've been liking about it this season. I mean, each episode is about something specific, but it's hilarious how far they take it, and what they do with it. Also, there are always some really interesting twists which get me out of left field.

My favorite episode right there. Also Comparative religion for the first season.

As far as the end to the most recent episode goes, I hope Jeff is conning that guy (the doctor. Im no good with names). Jeff knows he is going to join the study group so he wants to 'get along' to avoid awkwardness. Then he can point out the guy is really psychotic when the time comes. I do think there is evil inside him.
