Yep yep. My plane tickets /should/ be purchased now to arrive the morning of the 8th and leave at 6 PM on the 13th. Kells and I will be in discussion about this until it actually happens, but extra brainstorming help is appreciated

Saturday the 10th is almost certainly the best time for a meetup for me, since I have schools to visit, employers to meet, and concerts to go to on all the other days.

Speaking of PAX, if anyone is in the area and wants to come but doesn't have a pass, there are a few (1k or so) day passes available tomorrow, registration is at the Hyatt.

If you come, I'll be working at Unicorn Theatre from 2:30 or so on, probably on the sound board - come say hi!

EDIT: Those who didn't come may be better off. This year's flavor of ConSARS at PAX is H1N1 swine flu.

Yeah, I heard about that. Totally worth the risk though - PAX 09 was /awesome/ and I wouldn't have gone if it weren't for you, so thank you. You made me and one of my friends EXTREMELY happy.

Fremont Oktoberfest is this weekend - you still may have time to get to the last day of it today, 11a-6p. Excellent variety of largely local brews along with some micros from around the country and I think even a couple from BC.

There's some kind of music festival in a couple of weeks with iirc 60 bands for a $10 admission.

As far as regular night life I don't really know (working on that myself), but to keep your finger on events I suggest The Stranger in both online and dead-tree editions - online is easy to access and goes up faster, but dead-tree often has features that don't make it online and they're always worth reading. Also you get the ads that way, which can be awesome and/or hilarious.

Kells has informed me that the UW canoes are available until November.
Therefore, it is proposed that we go water-geocaching in canoes that afternoon... possibly meet up in the morning at Cupcake Royale, and the truck on down to the waterfront for exciting boat times.

Any comments?

This Saturday!

We're meeting up at Cupcake Royale at 11ish in the morning, and then heading down to UW for boats (unless weather doesn't permit, in which case we'll do something else awesome).

There are two options for Cupcake Royale relatively close to campus: Their World Headquarters in Ballard, or their newest location at Capitol Hill. Hit us up in this thread or the IRC (we lurk #xkcdmafia and #faid) or on IM (Addresses on my fora profile) if you have a preference. We'll probably default to Ballard if nobody expresses an opinion.

Quick post-meetup recap: despite the mess of last-minute changes and hectic planning, a whole bunch of crazy internet people showed up at our place and much fun was had (huge thanks to netcrusher88 for the transportation that made it possible). Sajuuk made food, Kells was suitably teased for being a Mac user, I learned how to use Rockbox, and kinigget put his foot behind his head (and took pictures of everything else). I have to say, my favorite moment was during the geocaching - explaining to a confused stranger in a parking lot that we were "from the internet" and "looking for hidden treasure." I'm glad we managed to successfully make it happen, that was awesome.

Hey xkcd!

I just moved to Bellevue yesterday and am bored out of my mind. I would be happy to have a couple of you guys over for pasta and movies or something sometime, perhaps even have a housewarming meetup. Would anyone be up for that?

I am from Denmark and i happen to be going to Seattle with my class in fall 2010 so i wanted to hear if there's anyone from Seattle around There.

So guys, guess who's totally en route to the greater Seattle metropolitan area right now? ^ That guy.

I think we should show him a good time (and that ~~America~~ Seattle is awesome). Well, rephrase: I already will be showing him a good time for the next two weeks or so, and if anyone else wants to come out of the woodwork and get a proper meetup (or just a night of fun times) going, please let me know. I'm currently in the University District, complete with apartment to hang out in. I was thinking of doing some proper touristy stuff, maybe even Zoolights or something equally kitschy. Or, you know, being all scene and bumming around Capitol Hill. Either way.

Seattle meetups are really great when we actually get around to them, let's make it happen again! (Also I am thinking Sky High Sports again, trust me, you don't want to miss out on trampolines and visiting Australians.)

I'd like to second Sky High, because 1) I've never been there, and 2) trampolines.
