I have never heard of a funnel cake, but yours looks delicious, and your boyfriends one looks even worse than my manager having two teabags and eight(!!!) sugars.

But honestly, you don't even need a fancy-pants camera to pull something off. Just half a clue about composition and lighting (never ever use flash. Daylight is ideal. Get down close to the food). My friend photographed her southwest guacamole burgers with just a cheapo point-and-shoot:

Chicken Breast with a stuffing containing brie and cranberries (and breadcrums, and some basil). The rest is just some avocado and some chilli oil.

Oh? Are there no funnel cakes Down Under? Funnel cakes are carnival food. People do not typically make them at home, they are more like a treat for when you go to an amusement park, fair, etc. Of course the people at the fair usually put all kind of delicious fattening stuff on it like whip cream along with the powdered sugar. I think they are very similar to elephant ears.

Those avocados look yummy, btw. If I eat an avocado by itself I usually just add salt, but I think I will try it as a side dish like that.

I've never liked that fondant "wrap" thing they do with so many contemporary wedding/fancy event cakes, but apart from that, the decoration is spectacular. Throw it on a more traditionally frosted cake and I'd almost have a hard time eating it.

I don't think anyone actually likes the taste of fondant. It just makes it look pretty. It's fine with me, as you can just eat around it (although it seems like a waste).

I didn't even mean the taste, though; I don't like the way it looks. Too sterile, too plastic. Rarely, for the right cake design, it works, but usually the style puts me off.

I was told to post these here:

I made these for a Christmas party. The first cookie, of course, is chocolate chip, using the tried and true Nestle Toll House recipe. The second kind is my great-grandmother's oatmeal raising cookie recipe. They're my absolute favorite cookie in the world. The third and final cookie is peanut butter, which comes from a recipe my mother got from a jar of Jif peanut butter many years ago.

Yes, there's a lamp behind the bottle. As for the liquid's color - it's supposed to be darker. Real vanilla extract in tiny bottles is also dark, as is vanilla-flavored extract (not using real vanilla beans).
