Arrrghhhh!

I can't believe I've been forced into this on Day 1. ¬_¬

Claim: Lazy Cop (Sloth + The Suspicions of Mr Whicher). When I cop somebody, I'm too lazy to cover my tracks, so my target is told that somebody targeted them.

Breadcrumbed by me here:
I'll post some questions of my own in a bit. I'm too lazy busy to come up with any good ones atm.

If I've been acting cautious, it was because I was trying to keep a low profile, because I knew my role would have to be outed D2, with al the wine it would bring.

So um yeah, unvote me please. ¬_¬

Lataro, I'm not questioning your playstyle if you are indeed telling the truth - like with a miller, it is the right action. What am I am saying however is that it is an extremely conveniant cover for scum, and that even if you are honest, your role could easily do a lot more damage to town than it will do to scum.

Votals:
3- Misnomer (Lataro, mpolo, Mavketl)
3- mpolo (Van, VectorZero, Misnomer)

~4 hours till Day 1 ends. 13 animals alive, 7 to lynch.

Argh. I'm beginning to get a dislike of Misnomer claiming near the end of a day!

Misnomer: How is Lataro claiming going to hurt town if they are telling the truth? It would only hurt if a town player was stupid enough to target him.

mpolo seems to have run with the whole aristocracy-democracy feud thing, and had a strangely specific denial about a night kill. Also a vote based on lurkiness, when Misnomer hasn't been too lurky, at least compared with some.

I think mpolo seems scummier than Misnomer, so:

Vote: mpolo

I hope this doesn't bite me on the butt like last time!

Van: Can you give a bit more reasoning when you vote? Gut feeling and random doesn't give town anything.

Public message: Lataro, possibly, trying to get the heat off him from Misnomer?

Yeah.... i know, that is the very reason I said I claimed for. If town knows not to target me, then I kill zero (non-retarded) townies! If scum think I'm full of crap, then they can have at me.

Even though I'm not gonna vote for mpolo here, by unvoting Misnomer in this situation, I mind as well of. This way someone can't tie the lynch though with one vote.

If anyone has any kind of lie detector, Misnomer's claim would be a good one to check out. Just saying.

No, actually, I can't. I was recently in a car accident and hit my head, damaging the section of my brain responsible for explaining my mafia logic. It was a very specific injury.

Of the 3 targets being bandied about (mpolo, misnomer, lataro), I found Lataro fairly scummy (which probably means he isn't scum), Misnomer seemed fairly neutral although lurky (a first for him), and then mpolo was nice enough to make the only really suspicious comment of the day. My reason list was about as detailed as I said it was. Funny how that works :D

"The lynch is a solemn occurrence. It is a joyless necessity. Even when we lynch in self-defense, we cannot help but lynch part of ourselves as well. Woe be to those who would find pleasure in the act." Mafia 18: 2-4.

But there were two present who took great joy in the lynch. One of them would meet woe in around 1600 years. The other did not believe in woe, for he was a silly man.

From the shadows, an voice cried out:
"One vote for Misnomer!
Wholebuncha votes for Mpolo! YAY!"

Mpolo has been lynched. It is now Night 1. All night actions should be sent to Weiyaoli and myself. Night 1 will last no more than 30 hours.

Postby Silknor » Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:18 pm UTC

In the first battle between democracy and aristocracy, the only victim was humour. Granted, it was a very dry, very British, sort of humour. So dry that 99 percent of people wouldn't recognize his lines as jokes at all. But does that make the loss any less bitter? I know that I, for one, will miss such jests as:

mpolo wrote:it could be that native English fauna are queenlovers, it could be that "regal" animals, like the lion, the kingfisher and the monarch butterfly are our baddies. Just the image of a Monarch Butterfly sneaking in to kill people in the night is too good not to be true…

You know what? Mpolo is right.

A whisper went out along the branch. The message passed from caterpillar to caterpillar was just one word: "Go."

In unison they emerged from their 42 cocoons, bursting into the true glory of the Monarch Butterfly in flight. They swiftly flew to the SWM, and he silently beckoned to a pond on the eastern edge of the Zoo.

One by one they dove into the water, pecking at the depths below. As the 42nd Monarch Butterfly rose from the water, its tiny teeth slightly bloodied, so rose a large sturgeon, mortally wounded. Around each of the sturgeon's front fins was a stethoscope.

The Monarchs then flew into the sky, flying in perfect formation, and signed "Hitchcock (British Version)" in the air.

The town was stunned. How could such beautiful creatures be capable of such violence? And who was this SWM who ordered them to target the sturgeon? They wouldn't be left wondering for long though, because the Monarchs left a note:

Super
Cool
Unbreakable
Menagerie

Dinosaurs
In
Disguise

Infinite
Turbo!!

Oh, I guess that's who. Unless you know, it's wine, and the town did it. Probably not though.

Mpolo has been lynched. He was the Wooly Mammoth, reader of Lord Foul's Bane, Jester.
VectorZero has been nightkilled by the SCUM DID IT. He was the Sturgeon, reader of Top Knife: The Art and Craft of Trauma Surgery, town Skilled Doctor.

It is now Day 2. 11 players remain, 6 to lynch.

A familiar voice whispers in your ear:
Get with the lynching! I'm hungry!

Mpolo's role:
Spoiler:
Between submitting an extinct creature and a book about someone who doesn’t think the world around him was real, I was very tempted to give you Mod’s Bastard Child, so that the world wouldn’t think you’re real either. But I won’t :).

You know you are living a dream. And there is but one way out. You are a Jester.

VectorZero's role:
Spoiler:
You are the Skilled Doctor, town. Each night you may protect 2 players from being killed. You may not protect yourself. However, it is impossible to fully repair the damage done by the would-be murderer, and so your protection will not work on anyone you have already saved from death. Be careful out there, your meat is very valuable and someone besides the scum wants you dead!

Misnomer targeted me N1, so at least that part of his claim was true. (The message I've received doesn't say that I was targeted by a cop.)

Flavour analysis:

You know what? Mpolo is right.
This line was not italicized, so I suspect it's player-generated flavour.

Dinosaurs

I think the Dinosaurs In Disguise is the most relevant part of the SCUM DID IT team name. "In Disguise" either means that they are Dinosaurs but they've been hiding in the zoo or something, or they are animals who think they are / would like to be / are related to dinosaurs.

I agree. Look at the flavour, we have another reference to birds.

The Monarchs then flew into the sky, flying in perfect formation, and signed "Hitchcock (British Version)" in the air.

And the most closely related animal to the dinosaurs was the birds.

Would there be any significance to the number of butterflies? 42? Maybe someone chose Hitchhikers Guide? Which makes cjdrums comment pretty suspicious.

Other results:
Mav confirmed that they were targetted, and Misnomer claims that they targetted Mav. I would have preferred it claimed the other way around, but still, looks ok.

Flavour seems to indicate a bird mafia? Or maybe dinosaurs and birds? I presume that since unicorns were allowed last game, dinosaurs aren't out of the question.

Considering that mpolo was a wooly mammoth (which is extinct), being a dinosaur is totally possible. Though I agree that there could be more to the scum team than just 'Dinosaurs in Disguise'. We just really don't know what direction it would be going in. Birds? Reptiles? Other extinct creatures which lived during the time of the dinosaurs? There is a nice big umbrella which incorporates a bunch of animals.

And it looks like two people already got their wins (mpolo for being lynched, whoever wants VZ to be dead). Though losing a doctor really sucks. Especially since he could protect two people.

Finally got stable internet.

Claim: Watcher (Nautilus + 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea)
So guys, I targetted cjdrum last night. He targeted VectorZero.

I crumbed it also with:
Ibarra wrote:
Mavketl wrote:I'll oblige, but just so you know... the next game you do this I'm going to start copying my answers from previous games. :P

Well, if there's anything I learned is that asking questions for information is essential in every game. Besides, it's not like I'll keep on asking the same questions every time.

Lataro wrote:As for Ibarra's questions, I'm not going to mindlessly answer the same questions each game, it's pointless to me.

Added a third question BTW.

Lataro wrote:I am, however, going to be nice and pro-town here in my first post and make thing clear. No townie should target me at night unless they want to die. Scum are free to do so though! In the interest of not killing a town power role, that's all I'll say on the subject. Any questions asked about this will be summarily dismissed by me. You can go ahead and lynch me for all I care, I'm not saying one word more than that on the subject.

The start of the game and we already have WIFOM... wow. I don't think town would go around intentionally adding WIFOM, so FoS.

Can someone also tell me why we're soft-claiming roles? Isn't it a bad idea to do that this early?

I... Don't even have a night power.

Either something is wrong with your logic, something is wrong with your power, or (most likely) you are scum.

And, you were already looking scummy from your little "I prefer scum roles. Oh, and this a PyP so yeah" thing. Whoever brought that point up, I commend you.

So, without further ado,

So... who here doesn't think cjdrum just made an incredibly freaking super scummy post?

:waits:

no one? Bold is mine.

cjdrum wrote:I... Don't even have a night power.

Either something is wrong with your logic, something is wrong with your power, or (most likely) you are scum.

So, the best assumption you can make is that scum randomly choose someone to lynch at the cost of one of their own members early in the game? Really? THAT is the most likely thing? REALLY? That'd be a horrible scum move, IMO. Lets ignore that for now though. Your first position is that there is a logical flaw in Iberra's post. Let's see...

Well, I just re-read it, it looks like their logic was, "I am a watcher, I choose cjdrum, the result returned was VZ" Hmm... I don't see how any possible logical flaw could exist in that statement. There was no statement that you were explicitly scum, no vote, or anything, just an open ended statement. Seems like a perfectly logical thing to me

IF Person A is a watcher AND they target a given person, THEN, they know who that person targeted. From their perspective, the conditional was fulfilled if truly claimed, so the result followed.

In sum, that is just plain wrong on so many levels to say their logic is wrong.

As to the power, that is valid to question, but by virtue of your (over) reaction, I'd say it's pry not the case.

And, you were already looking scummy from your little "I prefer scum roles. Oh, and this a PyP so yeah" thing. Whoever brought that point up, I commend you.

How is this in any way, shape, or form valid? I brought that point up by the way. I did so as an "This is an example of a possible townie spilling wine" situation, when they made the accusation that no townies spill wine on purpose, when they themselves did so. That was not in any way an accusation that they are scum based on that alone. This is just some hardcore BS.

So, without further ado,
vote: Ibarra

For either false claim or false information, as well as likely to be scum.

So, you'd lynch someone who may have false information due to an aspect of their role, or it's interactions with another role causing them to have bad info? Really?

Yeah.

Ditto.

I'd assume Iberra left it open at the end in case you had an action you used on VZ, like a cop, PM ability, or some other random power, and for you to be able to respond. You've claimed no night action, so that is now moot.

Vote: cjdrum

For making the most scummy post possible in response to Iberra's claim. I can't find one thing in there that doesn't scream scum.

Very well... Ibarra let me claim a power, and since I didn't I must be scum? Great.

If I were scum, I would've claimed that I copped him, and said I got the result that he flipped.

Lataro, also, what's this?
Lataro wrote:In sum, that is just plain wrong on so many levels to say their logic is wrong.
Ah, yes, my point was wrong. Now I see, but... That just means that there are now two options: something wrong with the power or something wrong with their alignment.

Enyway, I want to know why Ibarra would Watch me, of all people - why not Watch Misnomer to see if he's claiming truthfully, or somebody with even a soft claim?

Okay, I used some bad points in my argument. Now, I'll unvote if you want. Every time I try to make an argument, that happens. So,
unvote: Ibarra
Here. Of course, IGMEOY, but my vote was a rash decision. Totally didn't realise that Ibarra hadn't put a vote on me.

Re: [T] Camelot Zoo Day 2: Calling Card

As I've said, I have no night ability. Is it possible that the Tracker gets a random result if the person doesn't have an action?
I don't know. If that's right, then I'm in a pretty crappy position.

Or maybe there's a role like in The Departed, which "plants evidence" against a person, so Trackers and Cops and such think they're scum?

Either way, it kind of sucks for me at the moment :/

So, are you a watcher or a tracker? Its now very confusing.

If you are a tracker, it seems you have caught the person responsible for VZ's death. cjdrums defence against it has also been pretty bad. There is also the slight connection between the 42 butterflies, and cjdrum mentioning Hitchhiker on Day1. Seems pretty convincing to me. Will check their day1 postings, see if anything comes up from that.

First of all, how is everyone and their mother parsing "Monarch Butterfly" as birds?

As for the claiming business: Ibarra is a lyncher or cjdrum is scummy as hell. I'm leaning towards the latter because of his over-the-top response to "hey I saw you targeting VZ last night". Then again,
cjdrum wrote:If I were scum, I would've claimed that I copped him
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Right, so that's wine-y... but it's also a good point. If you're scum and you get this accusation thrown at you, you say "I have another night action than a kill" not "I don't have a night action!"

I have the strongest urge to do a "Departed Defence":

But I'm going to append a "Typo, " to the beginning.

In all seriousness, though, I must say that it's kind of odd that people didn't pick up on that and tell me earlier - it kind of shows that you didn't even read that post entirely.

Which means... Nothing, I guess, but I want to know what happened there :P

I have a bad habit of reading the thread, posting, and then reading the thread again to see if my post even made sense.

What do you mean, preview function? :P

....FACEPALM.

Dude, when you're under attack like that, it's okay to just claim instead of 'breadcrumb' and then hint that people should read your post more carefully. (For those not following, he's cleverly spelling 'VIGILANTE' with caps.)

Hey, and ONE SHOT! Don't forget that last bit.

I could prove to you right now that I haven't used it yet, if you want. But I'm assuming you won't.

I assumed that I'd get under less fire... Or whatever. Like, if attention drew away from me, that was there.

But yeah. Box Jellyfish + The Road = One-Shot DayVig.

So it's a (possible) daykill? Well, if I were you I'd definitely use it to shoot Ibarra if we get close to lynching you. :P

In the scenario that you are painting (Ibarra is lying and you have a one-shot vig kill), it would be good to kill Ibarra... but killing Ibarra won't prove your innocence, it just proves that you have a (day)kill. Hmm. @Everyone: how likely is it that he killed VZ during N1 and has a daykill?

I suppose it depends on how the scum conduct their kill. If its a particular scum doing the deed, or if they nominate someone to do it. That would mean that the scum nominated cjdrum to do the NK. Then he would also have a one shot daykill to use as they please. I would say its not too unlikely, but unusual.
