Oh, Well I think most of us are kinda shiny so that should help.

Like me, I am queer/bisexual. I have really only dated guys, but that has more to do with me wanting women who don't want me and vice verse. In terms of a physical sexual relationship I have had a bit more luck, but not the boat loads I might have wanted to.
It is strange, cause I look straight in my het relationship. People assume I only dig guys, making it that much easier for them to offend me without knowing it.
I want to get to a place where I am neither conforming nor rebelling but simply being.

I am 100% gay or as my friends call me, "A heterosexual woman". But I didn't stop be from making out with a girl at PRIDE in SF. She was cute and wanted to make out, so we did. I mean women are kind of like cookie dough ice cream, you gotta have it every once in awhile. If I am attracted to a girl and we both have had a little bit of alcohol...what is to stop us from a tongue symphony? I don't have feelings for them and it's all in good clean fun. I go back to my b/f whom I love..

I avoided the Circus downtown and returned to gay mecca...Known as Castro street. I'd love to go again. But after all the crap I pull when I go to those things alone, I think my b/f might say "no". I was very clear I didn't want to see anyone on bikes. No offense.

But yeah, I saw a lot of fabulous men and drag queens.

Why is it weird? Gender and orientation are really complicated things, and the gender binary is far too restrictive to sum up the possibilities, as is the "gay-straight" dichotomy. I myself am either bi or pan--not sure which one. I'm attracted to both men and women (well, primarily, I'm attracted to Emi. <3). Why's that weird?

This is not appropriate in a Safespace-tagged thread. Please review the rules, and keep in mind that a safespace is meant to be a supportive community rather than yet another place where people need to explain and defend their lives. This discussion ends now, or can be taken to PMs.

I avoid Oakland. I hit up Badlands, the Qbar, Midnight Sun, 440, CHAPS, REBEL, TRUCK, The Eagle, The Stud, the Cafe, Trigger, LIME, and my personal fave THE LOOKOUT. The boys there are sooooo nice! While overlooking the Castro.

Ever been to those?

Oakland has clubs. But all I think about is the Lexington in the Mission.

That kind of makes my day. Granted, BioWare has some other issues, but at least there are bright spots too.

Heh. I just encountered one place in Oblivion where a male NPC character's journal contains a sentence about his friend: "I'm afraid he is as naive as he is beautiful." Just a small touch, but a nice one.

I'm slightly confused. I'm gay, I've always been gay, I've never felt attracted to a woman, never had an erection over one, always used gay porn, always fantasized about men, only had sexual experiences about men... In short, really really gay.

I have this friend whom I got to know when she identified as a man and only described herself as trying to figure out gender issues. We've become sort of FwB and I love her a lot. Recently she's come to the conclusion she prefers female pronouns and considers herself a woman. However, because her gender still fluctuates a bit, and possibly for other reasons, she's considering transitioning.

I am most definitely attracted to her (male) body. But there's some sort of dissonance here - would I be attracted to other women with penises? I definitely don't think I'd be very attracted to people without penises, but what does that make me? Is everything I can about in a partner, gender-wise, is that they have a penis? It's confusing to me. I don't think I'm going to turn pansexual anytime soon, but those are thoughts I wasn't so sure about.

I think it makes me "gay + one exception", but I'd like to hear what you think.

This seems most likely. I wouldn't get too caught up on the labels - most people aren't 0's and 6's. You're just somewhere between 5 and 6 - if Gay is the identity you are most comfortable with, stick with it.

Hell, I'm dating two queer/lesbian women and a genderqueer sometimes boyfriend - and I still identify as a gay man, even if the only cock I've gotten lately has been latex.

Short of telling you to go out and experiment with the wide variations of gender out there, it's... I mean, you identify as gay, and I don't see a reason to change that for what is at this point a single individual. If the nature of your relationship with her is questioned, a simple "It's fairly complicated" should cover everything.... assuming you even feel the person questioning deserves an answer. Perhaps it'd be time to revisit your sexual self-identification should you find yourself attracted to individuals who don't neatly fit into a gender box, but for now I wouldn't worry about it. (Hell, even upon revisiting it I still wouldn't worry too much about changing your own identification)

Or you could just start trying to identify as being attracted to individuals based on a set of shared characteristics but those characteristics are negotiable. But that's a little wordy and perhaps allows for more negotiation than you're interested in doing.

I could probably keep going on various musings but that'd be very meandering. So I'll do the short version : Identify yourself as you wish, what you and her do is no one's concern but your own. When you're talking about two people, sexual identification doesn't really matter, only sexual attraction..and attraction is goddamn complicated.

Or yeah, what Aaeriele said.

TMMM: This morning's banter-ish in MMM got me thinking. That sort of innuendo-ish-banter-thing can be sort of nice at times, it's... affirming? But it can also be really uncomfortable, and I can't really predict which it will be. Maybe it is related to how familiar I am with the person, but it's pretty much ridiculously creepy when someone I don't know does it IRL. I've yet to ever work up the whatever to say something about it, regardless of the situation, because I know they'd be like "I was just joking around!" and it is harmless I guess.

I feel vaguely guilty and definitely self centered for being interested/concerned by sort of feminist-type topics now, when I really didn't care previously.

I can't tell you how to feel, but I know that sometimes I feel similarly. Actually, I feel guilty that I didn't care earlier, and that I should have known before it slapped be across the face.

I'm not really sure what specifically brought this on, but it's ok to feel whatever you do.

Yeah, that, with the face-slapping thing. I can make myself feel vaguely better because I don't think I ever perpetuated it, at least.

Innuendo-ish (or flat out innuendo-filled) banter, for me, is definitely a "friends only" thing. Or sometimes, a back-and-forth between a friend, one of their friends, and me - but in that situation, it's usually a V of banter focussed on the friend. Mainly because I already know what people's boundaries are.

And someone I don't know IRL who tries to get their flirt on via innuendo-laced banter definitely sets off my creep meter.

Cool story, bro.
It isn't fiction. I am so insulted that you think it is.
you don't have to censor things. It would help if your story had some important pieces of information.

Sometimes I'm so grateful I have friends like I do.

The other day, while hanging out with a friend I ran into a guy I have a major crush on I did my little "I suck at talking to pretty people" thing and moved on. My friend gave me a sound teasing for being such a dork.
Yesterday I run into a woman I had asked out (unsuccessfully) a few months ago and did the exact same awkward dance. Different friend teases me soundly for being a dork.

I love how normal they make it. The accept me not by being "Becca, do you have a GIRLFRIEND? Hey that CHICK over there is hot." "BI, GAY, BI, BI!". It's just "Becca, you need to stop being such a dork around people you like." No pointing anything out or dodging certain words. It's nice.
