Okay:
some of the more egregious violations of logic were there for the irony. A lot were mistakes, but some were supposed to be ironic.
As for the sci-fi thing: I consider it sci-fi if there's a technological / scientific basis (however flawed) behind the seemingly magical. If there isn't any, it's fantasy.
About music tastes: I recognize that tastes are subjective. However, there are certain stimuli that are universally (for all intents and purposes) viewed as bad. For example: it is safe to say that we can all agree that dog shit smells bad. Black Eyed Peas is the dog shit of music. Even if a few (or a lot) of deviants think it sounds good, it doesn't.
Is recognizing one's attempt (but failure) to show humility automatically a sign of lacking humility?

When businesses take advantage of the willfully ignorant: it isn't a contradiction to say that the ignorant deserve what they get, but that people shouldn't give it to them. I don't feel it's my right, nor is it anybody else's, to force onto others what they believe is fair unless doing so is necessary.

With BBCode and HTML: I obviously didn't want to allow all HTML tags. <script> tags and such would obviously be off limits. However, I don't see the reason to replace <img src="" /> with

I understand if someone doesn't like dogs. However, if you don't like dogs and someone with a dog is walking down the street towards you, I think there are a variety of responsible, adult things you can do:
a) Step off the sidewalk and go around the person.
b) Walk quickly past them.
or c) Give them some indication - slowing down as you approach, moving to the side as you get closer, saying somethingetc - that you don't like dogs.

Today, I met someone who chose
d) Walk straight toward them until you are three feet away, then move to the side. Rant angrily about this as they try to apologise.

I mean, yeah, I should have paid more attention. Even if the woman in question did like dogs, I should have pulled mine to the side until she gave some indication she was fine with it. Maybe having to step a foot off the sidewalk so that she wouldn't have to come within six inches of a dog was a big deal for her. But I didn't realize she was actually trying to avoid him, I thought she was just trying to pass us. And when she said, "Really? Really?" I realized my mistake and tried to apologize. And instead of accepting that and reminding me to be more careful next time, she angrily started in about "dog people" and how my dog had forced her off the sidewalk and generally making a fuss. Because apparently one teenage girl represents all "dog people." Again, I tried to apologize and tell her I hadn't seen her moving to the side in time to pull my dog over. She interrupted by saying that I should try to learn to respect people's feelings.

I walked away, and it wasn't until later I started feeling angry. I mean, I made one small, honest mistake, and suddenly I deserve to be belittled and yelled at? It wasn't even as though my dog had tried to lick her or rub against her legs or anything, he just wandered over to her side of the sidewalk as she walked past. If she had tried to accept my apology, or inject one modicum of politeness into her lecture, then maybe I could understand where she was coming from. Instead, she acted belligerent as I politely tried to apologize, then told me to respect other people's feelings. I mean, hypocritical much? She was probably twice my age, and I think she was the one acting childish in that situation. Ugh.

They tend to do that by themselves if you make large movements with the mouse away from the bees. The challenge is splitting them up again after they've clumped together.

Code: Select all

void ┻━┻︵╰(ಠ_ಠ ⚠) {exit((int)⚠);}

Funny, I just came on to complain about chrome. :P

Not a major complaint, it seems like a really good browser over all. But in safari I had got used to the little boxes containing web pages, these are good because you can drag and drop your selected web pages into them, et voilà easy access. But chrome I can see no way to choose what goes in the boxes, it seems to me you have to visit something about a billion times before they suggest it as a most visited and it get's put there and then you can anchor it in. Annoying! I just want to choose. :P

I love it when people make offhand racist comments about First Nations people without knowing I'm First Nations. Really makes my fucking day.
I am a not a drunk, I don't get everything for free, I don't have diabetes, I don't live off of handouts, blah blah blah.

I'm so sick of the negative stereotypes. I can never get away from it, ever. People don't understand how hurtful their remarks are. That because of those remarks, I come home feeling ashamed of myself. My mother and my sisters have gone through these same problems I have. Its unacceptable and I'm tired of dealing with it. Sometimes I just wish I was born differently. This is sad to say but its true.

Umm... while lightning can be used as a verb (i.e. to produce lightning), it's more commonly used as a noun, and somewhat less commonly as an adjective. Lightening can be used as either a participle of the verb lighten or as a noun.

The shift key doesn't appear to work for me in firefox 4 while playing flash games. Although it's not that it doesn't register at all, but rather it appears to register as the A key... wtf?

So, we have a course on "high technology".
Goddamn. This is horribly boring.

We are engineering students, almost master-level. We eat group theory and shit quantum physics equations. We are not middle-school students, nor we are retards.
This simple fact seems completely out of the grasp of the teacher. He speaks slowly, repeats himself 5-6 times, and only speak about very, very simple facts.
We know what fullerene is, cretin. We also know that a black hole attracts matter. YES FUCKING DUMBASS WE HEARD ABOUT THAT FUCKING QUANTUM CAT, YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT THE GUY MEANT, BHARGH.
Is he... is he talking about gravity and squared distance?

PARDON MY PREVIOUS OMISSION: oh, and he can't integrate.
And bahaha, he's explaining voltage.

This week is test week and I got told we would only have exams tomorrow and friday, so when I saw a classmate posting "exams today! wish me luck" I almost got a frickin' heart attack because I was obviously missing the exams.

So I checked the schedule online, turns out there are no exams today. Wish is good, but I almost had a seizure. I'm still kind of panicy actually. Because I should study. This post isn't making much sense anymore.
Spoiler:
Interviewer: Some people say they can’t understand your writing even after they read it two or three times. What approach would you suggest for them?

William Faulkner: Read it four times.
