2. It's a TV series set in space. I think it had teams of children competing. The one thing I remember is that somebody has to be selected to cross a grid. They have to make it to the other side but, each time they move, a column of light moves towards them from the other side. If they choose the same square/point that it's going to move to, they are "evaporated".

I've been meaning to ask about this one too, I believe it's the same one. They aired it here in Bulgaria too. I remember the part about the antimatter universe too, they had warned them not to touch anything in it as to not annihilate themselves, and they had special shoes, I think*? and the paper bag was for that too.

Another episode I remember them going to Uluru/Ayers Rock and I think one of them walked up its vertical slope as if it was horizontal, like gravity was 90 degrees off? I'm not sure about this one.

And one of the characters, I think a bad guy, dealed in manure? I remember a lot more delais but they are very unclear and I can't put them in words. I'll try to remember more.

EDIT: Found it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Miraculous_Mellops_(TV_series)

* Actually I think that's me rationalizing later, when I learned about antimatter (which was pretty soon as I thought this antimatter thing is awesome and I must read about it). I must have been 8-9 when they aired it. I think that's my first memory of noticing scientific logic inaccuracies in popular enertainment. I remember thinking aren't their shoes made of matter? I hadn't heard of antimatter before, I think but it seemed logical. But then when they said they're there for an antimatter power source and the paperbag is made of antimatter, when they touch the paper bag it won't it annihilate? So started thinking about complicated ways they would actually do it :D

ConMan, if you're Australian, can you help me get the two seasons? I can't I find it sold anywhere online. And I remember the giant baby now :D

EDIT 2 after someone else posted: here's the opening credits for Season 2, the Syndey Opeara House floating by is a model that was in a kind of a voodoo way the real thing although they built it from matchsticks or something, I remember this much. Remember, this was my 8 year old perception :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT6lt1mv2kc EDIT 3 the window frame floating by in the credits was also somehow magical, it lead to another alternate universe but not the antimatter one?

Spoiler:
Darren finds information on a forum called the Pan-Galactic Bulletin Board. The best way would be through a traveling device known as a "WOOP", or a "Window of Opportunity". With alterations, any normal window will do, however a massive power source is needed to power it. Normal batteries don't get the WOOP very far, so Samantha gets Jane to send her a "Cold Fusion Reactor", the same thing that powers the Moonlings' space ships. This also is not enough.

Darren contacts a young girl on the forum known as Ebony. Ebony is a smart little girl who lives in a black hole and has long been awaiting guests at her own party who have never arrived. Rather than simply emailing Ebony, Ebony actually appears as a 3D hologram to give the Mellops' and Darren advice on how to use the WOOP and other devices of some help in the quest to stop the Grubs. Ebony advises that the Mellops will need a "Compressed Sun", however, a Compressed Sun would blind any normal human being. Ebony has one she can give them, however it must be kept in an anti-matter paper bag.

This is the one! Absolutely, 100% the right show. You are a legend. Unfortunately, I suspect it will be near-impossible to find copies of it, since (a) it was made before downloading a TV show was remotely feasible, (b) it's Australian (and hence incredibly obscure - I'm amazed it made its way to Bulgaria), and (c) I don't think there was ever a VHS release, so the only copies would be ones recorded off TV, and for a show like this I'd be surprised if many people kept their copies. Still, it can't hurt to look, and maybe ask the people at Channel 10 what they know about it.

Hello all,

I'm new here as a member. I've been trying to find the title to a movie I saw maybe 20 years ago. The only things I remember about the plot is this elementary (maybe) school class taken hostage by this gang who's leader is this guy dressed up as Santa. One scene I remember clearly is the teacher and some of the kids, while trying to escape (somehow they leave the school or are taken away from it) , have to swim under some sort of rock, maybe a cave, and the there is only a small bubble of air in the middle of it where they can take a quick breath.

Spoiler:
The ending credits scene shows the Santa mask hanging from a tree (pretty sure the teacher ends up killing the bad guy)

Please help me out. It's been bugging me for years.

Thanks

I remember seeing a TV show on which vampires or werewolves or something co-exist with humans. There's a scene where a guy behind the counter pretends to be a vampire/werewolf. Then moments later, the redneck waiting in line turns out to be one.

I know it sounds vague, i've only seen one little fragment on TV a while back. Show looked 'new' (post 90s). Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it could be something from True Blood (Started about 3 years ago on HBO). It's set in Louisiana, and the tone fits. How long ago did you see it?

Could someone help me name a movie I saw a few years ago? It was about some (ex)yakuza guy who for some reason went to LA. In the beginning of the movie there was a scene where the two main characters meet. They were walking on a street, when the yakuza guy bumped to this other guy, who dropped a bottle of wine as a result. The american guy starts to complain about how the other guy should pay for the wine, because it was his fault that he dropped the bottle. As a response the yakuza guy picks up the broken bottle and stabs the american guy to the eye. Later in the movie these guys meet again, and for some kind of a gang. If I remember correctly, the movie ends to a shootout at some old gas station.

Help! I'm trying to remember a movie where they make fun of the fact that in Star Wars, the members of the Empire all have British accents, but Britain never existed in that universe. I don't think it's Spaceballs, but I wanna say Austin Powers maybe. And I think the character that brought it up during a meeting like the "Your lack of faith is disturbing" scene. It's killing me!

This is a movie that's been bugging me for years! I'm starting to think I may have imagined it.

It's definitely an Asian action movie, kind of John Woo-esque, but I don't think it's one of his.

All I can remember is this fantastic action sequence in what I think was a shopping mall or market kind of setting in Asialand.

There was a lot of what appeared to be individuals fighting each other, I think someone was going to kill someone, but someone else was going to stop them and then someone else was going to kill THAT one etc.

There's a lot of shooting. There's one Latino dude with long hair, sunglasses, and a sawed off shotgun kicking ***, another dude is hooked up to a rope and rappels down a flight of stairs while killing people.

Near the end of the scene a guy is laying on a cart and rolling down a hallway when like a hundred SWAT guys in riot gear appear out of the smoke with lasers on their guns and then I think they all shoot him.

Please help me! I saw this much of it on a bus in the middle of nowhere in Bolivia and then the DVD player broke, I haven't been able to find any trace of it since.

And one more :)

In this one there's a person in black leather with a black tinted helmet who storms through a big mansion place while killing lots and lots of Asians. Then he finds the bad dude on the other side of a sliding glass door which is bullet proof. He unloads 12g slugs into it until it breaks and then it's revealed that the assassin is a girl! when she takes her helmet off.

Please can anyone help....? I've been searching for this particular series all of my life!!!
Unfortunately, I don't have much to go on but here's what I can remember...

It was a repeat of an old B&W series and shown in the early eighties.
It was an action series - not cartoon.
It was on for about half an hour.
I think it was on BBC-2.
It was on between 5.00-7.30pm.
I think it may have been called something along the lines of 'The Red Circle' or 'The Red Tunnel'
It was in a regular TV slot which used to show all those half hourly serials - Rocket Man, Flash Gordon, Champion the Wonderhorse, The Lone Ranger
but it appeared sometime later.
Trying to narrow it down I would think it would be between 82-85 when it was shown.

The only prominent thing which I can remember is that of a cliffhanger ending on one episode which featured a man
on a motocycle in a large tunnel trying to outrun water which was catching up very quickly behind him.
I think the man may have had a leather jacket on and a cap but no helmet or anything like that.

I'm sure it came from the sixties if that's any help.

So sorry I can't remember any more than this but I can't find anything out there that resembles what I'm looking for.

As a kid in school I remember watching this great sci-fi series in class. I think tha main programme was called Look & Read or something like that but I'm more interested in finding out what the short sci-fi series within the programme was called.

What I can remember...
A couple of kids are in or near a woods - they may have been camping as one of them has a compass which starts spinning around as they approach what appears to be a damaged spaceship.

There are two or three beings inside the ship and one of them is injured I think.

The kids make friends with the aliens (which are human like) and try to help them but communication is a major problem.

The aliens write English backwards and do so on a piece of glass.

There is a young boy alien and girl alien and they are dressed in silvery suits.

If anyone could help with a title I would be extremely grateful. Thanks.

Hi everyone. This has been bugging me for years, and it's probably something one of you know right off the bat.

I remember watching this cartoon before the bus would come pick me up for school in the late-80s, but more likely the very early-90s, although I can't remember what grade I was in. Anyway, a group of teens (two of which I think were brother and sister, but I'm not sure) and possibly some adults are either pilots and fly planes or have mech suits that they fly around in, fighting off some antagonist(s) who must not have been really memorable. This was well before Power Rangers or Pokemon became popular in the U.S., but I think it was a Japanese anime import. It was on early in the morning, around 6:30 a.m. Central Time in the U.S., and I think it was only a half hour long, but I could be wrong. I know that's a not a whole bunch of info to work with, but I don't remember much else. I did like the show a lot and remember making the bus wait for the show to end before going outside (what can I say, I was a little jerk I guess) so if someone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

EDIT: Okay, so after watching a bunch of anime opening sequences from the 80s and 90s, I remembered a few things. The characters didn't have big eyes and they were for the most part tall and slender looking. I feel like the main character, the guy, either had a yellow or a red plane/mech suit. Unfortunately, I still haven't run across the opening for this particular show, at least i don't think so. It's hard to know when you're watching the original versions considering I don't speak or read Japanese.

Daredevils of the Red Circle. The motorcycle scene was shown on a BBC4 series last year.

The Boy From Space. The same 'backwards writing' trope was used in Sky Hunter, another Look & Read serial I saw in school, where children uncovered a bird-smuggling fraud through backwards-writing telegrams. Both programmes unveiled the twist by using "pots" and "stop".

The timing does seem wrong for M.A.S.K though, as that was '85, not 88-92.

So..Exo Squad except I figure the Aliens and Mars thing would be memorable, but... yeah, memory is stupid.

Yeah, I saw the name Exo Squad earlier today and thought that might be it, was almost sure that was it, until I watched the opening sequence. I'm combing RetroJunk.com right now just looking over series names. Another one I thought might be it based on the name was Ultraforce, but that's not it either.

It's possible it was late-80s to mid-1990s. I started taking the bus to school in 1989-90 and stopped taking the bus when I was in 6th grade, which was 1995-96, so it had to be between then.

Thanks for all of the help so far!

Yeah, it's not M.A.S.K. or Centurions.

Some more shows that remind me of it: Voltron (as mentioned), Robotech, the Gundam series, Teknoman

I think the main character had dark hair. Doubt that helps, but maybe...

some series in the 90's which seemed kind of inspired by Back to the Future, and The Last Starfighter

a young man (present day) is picked up by some mad scientist in a time machine that looks a bit like a winnebego, they also later pick up some warrior/feral girl, they are chased by an evil guy in a red time travelling suit, there's also something about a weapon made of light, which is destroyed and scattered across time and space and the MCs are searching for it, and there is a twist at the end:
Spoiler:
the mad scientist turns out to be evil and the guy in the red suit is a time-cop type guy

What I'm pretty sure about:
Sci Fi movie.
Set on Earth (or some place similar).
Scientists approached to build multiple of these giant machines (that spin like gyroscopes iirc)
A few people 'go through' those machines to test if they work or something.
There is this whole deal about people losing time, or time passing faster while those people test the machines.
They figure out that by examining these video recordings which for some reason recorded a whole lot of silence when they shouldn't have.

What I'm not sure about:
The machines might be an evacuation thing? Like people need to use them to leave Earth or something? I forget.
I believe one of the machines breaks during the test and there is a lot of drama about making the deadline with the other machines they try to make.

Edit: Found it, Contact (1997).

I saw this movie in highschool, but I have no idea how old it was back then.

It was about 3 or 4 boys with cancer who lived in the cancer ward of the hospital. I remember one specific scene where they did synchronous masturbating to some piece of classical music. I think the movie was in Spanish.

That's all I remember.

I remember watching this cartoon before the bus would come pick me up for school in the late-80s....

try searching for something named "Saber Rider and the Star Sherrifs".

and now i got one :). pretty low chances though, as i can remember very little of it. it was some kung-fu movie from the 80s, probably hong kong. the action is contemporaneus. what i know for sure is the protagonist was a girl/young woman. and there are two scenes that i remeber. in the first, after a fight, some guy falls a few (it may have been a lot, actually) stories, and smashes through a glass roof. that particular take is repeated three times. the second scene is from the (i think) climactic battle. it takes place in a plane (the big jumbo-jet type) in mid flight. at some point a gun is used and the bullet breaks one of the windows. the fight continues kung fu style and one of the fighters ends up with his head stuck through the broken window.
a thing i am not quite sure of is the girls was on a revenge for her brother's murder.

I saw this movie recently, probably made in the last 10 years, Swedish, maybe Danish, about nothing really. It follows four or five lives but I think they occasionally have a scene together in a bar. There is a young girl who likes a guitar player in punk rock band and at the end they get together, and their apartment starts moving away like a ship or bus, and everyone waves goodbye to them. There was another scene where a guy dreams about being sentenced to die in the electric chair because he pulled the tablecloth off a long Nazi table and broke some historic china. There's an old time band with a tuba player. It was all very bleak.

I wish to know the name of a animation movie that aired on Brazilian Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon (probably has been aired before on the rest of the world).

It is set on a world wich has no solid ground (at least in the scenes which i remember) and everyone lives on some awesome Airships/Flying Aircraft Carrier, the hero pilots an awesome biplane and is in love with a girl who is a pilot too, there's a old man who serves as a mentor of both ( think he was the father/grandfather of the girl). The film was narrated by the hero.

There were also some guys who had pistols with various barrels in a vertical row and a scene where a friend of the hero (or the hero itself) fight with some alien or robotic thing in a turret bubble, like in a B17, and a scene where the hero and the girl discusses about the maximum altitude of an airplane and the design of a jet plane which didn't need air to fly.

I remember that the ending involved some robots (possibly giant) and a scene where the hero and the girl go in the jet airplane which was being designed since the start of the movie, and they they go to a higher altitude than anyone before.

The film was very similar to the series Skyland, but i think that the series appeared afterwards.

And sorry for any occasional english mistake, it's not my native language. :D

I remember seeing this a few years ago. It seemed like it was made in the 90s. I remember three or so people from different fields, and they were in a castle or some kind of fort by the sea or something, walking around. I think at least one was a woman. They were having a long conversation about various things...like their different respective fields. I'm not sure what the fields exactly were..maybe like physics, philosophy, psychology. Maybe. The only thing I can recall them specifically talking about is how at the atomic level, particles become more fields of probability than solid things....quantum physics stuff. It had the feel of a Michael Chricton novel...explaining mind-blowing scientific things in an easy-to-understand way. It wasn't a thriller though. I didn't watch the whole thing...maybe only 20 or 30 minutes.

I remember watching this show in the 90s that was vaguely similar to X-Files. This little girl was at a birthday party and there was some evil clown. I think the show was Blue something.

Just remember one line from something - TV or movie, but it's memorable. Someone(possibly an alien) is talking to Gene Hackman, and labors it - saying "Hack Man", or "the Hack Man".
