I'm doing research for an article, and have a list, but I'm trying to see if I missed any: What is the most over the top, drawn out death scene you've seen in a movie?

What's already on your list?

Off the top of my head: when the one dude dies in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Are we only talking ones played seriously? For parodies, there's that one in kung-pow where the old guy "dies" three or four times.
I already have a hate thread. Necromancy > redundancy here, so post there.

One that's not quite serious but not quite a parody: Tampopo.

Probably the death scene in the movie "Braveheart". First he's nearly quartered, then they start drawing him (cutting him open), very slowly, all the while the commander for the British army (or whoever he was...it's been a while since I'd seen it), telling Wallace all he has to do is say "mercy" and all of the pain would stop. Wallace screams out "Freedom" and then is completely quartered and beheaded.

Talking of Mel Gibson, would "Passion of the Christ" qualify? (I have not seen it.)

Well, Mr. Orange in Reservoir Dogs spends maybe 80% of the movie bleeding out...

Bill Murray in Zombieland, though that was strictly for laughs and hilariously improvised by him.

The Passion of the Christ. The entire movie is basically just one long death scene.

Hm, just a single scene? What about Lucky Number Slevin? They're suffocating for a while on screen. Not sure how much I'd count someone being shot in the beginning of the movie and bleeding throughout, else we could count Inception...........sort of.

I recall the death scene at the End of There Will Be Blood being kind of long, but it has been a while. Maybe it's just his lecture that I'm thinking of.

Is your question about terrible thread subject lines? Oh wait.

Underworld springs to mind, seeing as HISHE did a parody of it.

And the scene parodying it in Tropic Thunder.
Joy of Cooking was far less of an achievement than Thyme Cube discovery, for I have Cubed the Spice, with 4 simultaneous flavor types in 1 plant of Earth.

The Untouchables

Malone's death. Given how many bullet holes he had. He crawls all the way to the other side of his home, pulls out some info about a train and lives a good deal longer to tell Elliot Ness about it.

I remember it taking forever for Trinity to die in the last Matrix movie but that might've just been because I didn't care about her at all.
