Pretty much my thoughts too.

Spoiler:
It'd be interesting to see where a dead Beckett would take the show, though. I think fans would hate any replacement, and anything less than a replacement isn't going to work; ideas like this are thus extremely unlikely to emerge as actual events.

That would be annoying.

That was a terrible ending. I had just watched the Bones season finale before so two bombs dropped for me last night.

Spoiler:
Maybe things will go poetically full circle, like at the very start of the series when Castle killed off Derek Storm? It'd certainly make the series layered in a weird way.

Just finished watching series 3 of Castle (because of England). And that ending... woah.

New series is coming out at New Years over here.

Actually, I have, but struggle to connect emotionally with a bunch of characters I don't particularly like. Incidentally, that's the same problem I had with the books.

Me too.
Spoiler:
We all know that he loves Beckett, and Beckett loves him. I don't really think the writers can draw it out much longer...If they decide not to start a relationship right away, that might be a good idea- let them both play with the idea a little bit, have Castle discuss it with his mother. They can maybe draw it out a little more that way, but it'll be incredibly frustrating if they actually got backwards. I thought it was bad enough when they didn't properly address the whole almost-dying-in-each-other's-arms thing.
I would be really interested in seeing how Beckett and Castle would navigate a relationship. I definitely don't think it would ruin the show.

Their relationship is kind of the central conflict of the show. The tension is the driver for much of the personal interaction. If they resolve the relationship, the show will not be very interesting.

I think they'll create some other reason for a split. Both characters do not put themselves first so either or both could be put off the market by "more important" life issues.

Might I suggest either acquiring shows over less legitimate means, or hooking up with someone with a US credit card and getting them to set up a US iTunes account for you to buy shows on?

And I like watching it on the TV. So... New Year's it is!

Plus, I've already got Dr. Who, Torchwood, Warehouse 13, Town Called Eureka and The Cape on my plate - it's not like I'm strapped for stuff to watch :P

Hmm, here it's just Eureka. Not "Town Called". Maybe because Eureka is a popular town name in the US (at least near me, I'm within a few hours of a Eureka and a Eureka Springs).

And I didn't particularly like The Cape, but Eureka and Warehouse 13 are awesome, in the "I'd watch them if they're on and they're fantastic but I watch too much already so they don't get weekly privileges" way.

Yeah, I knew that... not sure why they changed its name.

The Cape is really just for fun, and for the fact that I prefer it to Torchwood: Miracle Day. Which is a little depressing, really.

Spoiler'd for finding out Beckett's fate:

Spoiler:
They basically said they're going to drag out the relationship dangling even further, which implies it'll be next season before they get together. This probably means Beckett isn't dead. Also they confirmed she'll remember he said he loved her.

It's back!!!!!!

Spoiler:
I really liked that episode. I'll be interested to see how they draw out the mysterious man with information storyline - will Castle be trying to figure out who he is, or will he just leave him alone? Will he keep calling to remind Castle to pull Beckett everytime she gets too close? When will Beckett figure out Castle is blocking her?

I'm most curious how pissed off Beckett will be when she finds out Castle was holding out on her by not telling her about the mysterious man, as you call him.

He did have that tv with all that info on the case at the end so he will be looking into it.

I think how they handled Castle's I love you was brilliant, I would have been mad had they just made him take it back or just had her forget it.

Spoiler:
Yeah, Castle seems to have picked up the stupid ball this series. Maybe it wouldn't be stupid in the real world, but in a fictional world like that, she's 100% guaranteed to find out, and then she's going to go straight back on the war path anyway. Only this time, she'll refuse Castle's help because she's slightly peeved at him. So it just makes things worse.

Honestly, every season ends in drama and some sort of cliffhanger, and the entire show is a dramedy already, so I don't think that really applies. I expect them to return to the same format that the first three seasons had. Whether they keep it up, I don't know, but my guess is that the Beckett's mother's murder storyline won't be back at all until the mid-season break.

I actually thought they did a really great job of not only
Spoiler:
bringing the story from Beckett's shooting back to a place where they could basically continue with "business as usual", but added some interesting shifts in dynamic to play with this season. It was far more gracefully done than most shows that have OH NOES season finales which are forgotten as soon as the new season gets underway.
