I was a real dick to a tech support guy. After I hung up, I realized that has to be an awful and dehumanizing job that few would ever choose of their own volition. Now I kinda wish I could, like, send a card to the dude for just not cussing me out like I deserved.

When I worked in hell tech support a customer actually did send me a card like this because they were kind of a dick and I spent a really long time helping them anyway. Then a couple of months later when I got promoted someone in upper management mentioned the card as kind of a "good job" thing, but I didn't know what he was talking about because the card never made it past my boss's desk. I went with said manager to confront my boss and he produced the card, saying "oh, this thing? I thought I told you about that." Yeah, that's why it's under a pile of crap on your desk. Asshole. Whatever, he later got fired for getting drunk at a party and assaulting an employee. My point is that this is a thing that you can do and it could make someone's day.

Just call back and apologise. Even the next day, you have no idea how it feels to get an apology from someone who realises they were wrong to speak to the support guy like that.

I've had a number of those apologies.

Now you just need a title like Fantastically Fiery Fora Falcon or Perilous Posting Prarie Phoenix.

Fess: Just started crying at work, when nothing had even happened. I am at the point now where the anxiety just leaks out of my face, and I can't control it. Job I interviewed for didn't call me back, and I'm worried that I am going to ruin our credit/force my husband to drop out of school if I can't find something. One of my coworkers pointed out to me that this kind of stress is known as "being an adult, and it will only get worse if you have children." I fail at adulthood, apparently.

Also fess: I just keep posting about my major anxiety issues instead of actually doing something about them...but I don't know what I can do that won't require time and money.

Unlike apparently every other geek in existence, I am not obsessed with the slave Leia costume. I think part of it is that I saw the movies when I was very young, so it wasn't sexualized. At this point I don't want to associate sex with Star Wars - they're great movies, and I don't want my libido fucking it up.

Which ones have you tried? I found A New Hope boring as hell the first time I saw it. I'd say I found it as bad as A Phantom Menace, if that last one didn't have JarJar to stink it up some more. At least APM has Darth Maul. And Natalie Portman.

I think I saw the first of each run. I saw the one where Luke first gets his sword from the hologram, and the one with the canyon race and the little kid building a robot.

You saw the worst ones. The Empire Strikes Back (#5) and Return of the Jedi are considered to be the best ones. Me and my friends personally liked Revenge of the Sith (#3) too.

If you ever got time and absolutely don't know what to do, try watching Empire.

Confession: I tried alcohol last night. It was a pleasant experience. Tired to keep my intoxication level to about 0,05%

The sense of relaxation was quite apparent when I sobered up this morning and tried to do the same things I did last night, and found it very hard.

Confession: I didn't try alcohol last night, I guzzled it. I've just done the sums, and I ended up drinking 23.6 units of alcohol in beer. That's 4 500ml bottles of ale (2.5 units each), and 8 440ml cans of lager (1.7 units each).

Oh, and I drank alone. Because that's how I roll. But yeah, I don't think I ever want to see another beer ever again, because I feel rotten.

I drank 37,5 cl of white wine. It tasted awful, but I guess it goes better with food.

Confession: I've never watched a Star Wars through to the end either. Nor have I watched or read any Lord of the Rings all the way through, unless The Hobbit counts (prequels? I dunno). Or Star Trek, except for that one that came out recently (which I watched with a friend). I know, pretty bad...

On the plus side, I think I regain some of my nerd cred in terms of digestion of literature by enjoying Isaac Asimov, Douglas Adams, Richard Feynman, A.K. Dewdney, various chess authors, and so on.
