Funny story. Back in high school* we were taking senior pictures for band, which involved changing into our uniforms. I was the last one back to change by a good margin... and there was only one pair of jeans in the changing room. Not mine, of course, and they were about ten sizes too big. I ended up making a belt out of duct tape and looking ridiculous the rest of the day, which was actually kind of fun.

My favorite part is the implication that somewhere in the school, there was a fat guy wearing comically small jeans.

So, my master's thesis is finished, and has been sent for printing and publishing and whatnot. I'm gonna send in the paperwork requesting a degree tomorrow.

Beyond that... hell if I know. Should look for jobs and/or try to get a PhD I guess..

Isn't wikipedia supposed to be clearly written and simplified? I thought it was supposed to be written so people could easily understand it, and not overly complicated with technical jargon. I know there was a dumbed down version of wikipedia out there, but I thought the real thing was supposed to be in plain English.

Each page can not be self-contained, otherwise they would be absolutely humongous or lose factual accuracy. If you want to read up on something, and see words you don't understand, then go visit those pages and learn those words.

Wikipedia is there to tell you every last damn thing you might ever want to know about everything under the sun ever, and relies on links to make it make sense. simple.wikipedia.org is there to make sense on it's own.

On the plus side, you invariably broaden your vocabulary be reading it. I just learned vesicant, and so did my spell checker.

Vesicant is the only one I either don't know or can't figure out. lipophillic can be understood from it's components, as can alkylating. I want to assume vesicant is like dessicate, but am probably wrong.

I didn't know vesicant and alkylating. I knew lipophilic as I took an overview course on nanotechnology which went into great detail about hydrophobic surfaces, surfactants and ambiphilic materials.

Does anyone know a reasoning behind that? Shouldn't it be the same thing from their end?

Probably just because it's a large download and they don't want to bother with people that would inevitably complain if it put them over a monthly limit. That's the only thing I could think of. That and wireless will be faster for most people, probably.

Either a lot of my friends are closet Dresden Codak fans, OR Dresden Codak isn't the source of the term Sportball as a a derisive term for sports you don't really care about OR I have much greater sway over what phrases enter my friends' lexicon than I thought. Either way, I enjoy the fact that "Sportsball" is being used much more frequently.

Most of my discussions whilst high are something to do with talking. Either how much my circle of friends talk, or how our personal linguistic idiosyncrasies disseminate into each other's lexicons (okay, so that sentence could've had less syllables), and so on and so forth.

but yeah the way that people pick up expressions from friends is really interesting and awesome.
