None of the bosses are really hard, they just require you to know what you're going into and equip for it. I'd like to see some more bosses, though, since I like fighting them.

Me and a friend whom I've been playing with felt a great sense of accomplishment when the corrupted garden we'd planted outside our front door was able to spawn an Eater of Worlds. Quoting him, "our baby boy is all grown up now *tear*"

But now we can get (and sell) all the demonite and shadow scales we want, so we'll never want for dynamite, shuriken, or musket balls.

Still working on surviving in the dungeon long enough to collect the bones for Necro armor though.

What weapon are you using for dungeoneering*?
My first few runs. I found staff of Regrowth to be great, as it was fast and didn't need to click. With Feral claws and Shadowscale armour. Made a great defense against the mages.

Then upgrade to Muramassa.

The only item I'm missing which I want are the Rocket boots. One goblin invasion and nothing dropped

He was using a Ball'O'Hurt, I had a Phaseblade, we were both covered in Shadow Armor and various movement accessories (Haven't found any Feral Claws yet). We decided we're gonna do the Underground Jungle first, but then the Hornets...

Hornets aren't that bad, just don't let them get close

Or, don't fall between a Maneater and 2 hornets. I've found this to be a bad experience.

Also, take some walls, light, backwall and a bed with you. Set up camp there, break bed when you want to leave. Makes farming Cobalt so much easier. I've even had a nurse spawn in my jungle outpost

Just keep an eye out for staff of regrowth. Makes a better weapon then it does spell.

Nothing even seems to be a challenge any more. Muramassa makes everything okay. I spent ages in the underground jungle but I didn't turn up anything useful except the materials for that vine/grappling hook thing.

Huh.. so.. can you summon as many bosses as you'd like? I've now fought the Eater of Worlds twice, and the Eye of Cthulhu once... and am wondering if, say, the Eye of Cthulhu would be a respectable Demonite farm mob.

Maxing out on Demonite is too easy to call it "farming", unless your goal is to create a castle out of demonite or something?

Eater of Worlds provides better demonite/fight I think. With a buddy, we'd kill eater of worlds faster too, and pull maybe 3x as much ore.

Haven't looked at game since update, but the notes don't seem terribly impressive. Does the new armor look cool?

But yeah, seriously, all I have is a Shadow Helmet that dropped, and a Nightmare Pickaxe. I've not made more shadow armor yet, nor other tools mostly because I was busy chasing the meteor that landed. And after harvesting that one, another meteor's dropped.

Kill 3-4 bosses, and you'll be in full nightmare gear. Note that you need to kill Eater to get shadow scales for much of it (but Eater drops lots of shadow scales)

The Eater also dropped pants for us, so our Demonite needs were ~30 bars lower. We just made chest and heads, and the pickaxes, and that's what I used to mine hellstone enough for my armor set and molten pickaxe, molten hamaxe, and molten bow.

Well after a session last night, I managed to mine enough hellstone to get the full set of armour as well as the molten pickaxe. After that I'm pretty much unstoppable, took on the EoW and EoC a few times each to get the full set of shadow armour. The muramasa sword is deadly against both.

I've got the full set for silver, gold, shadow, meteor, and molten, and I just need a helmet for the jungle armour. Also finally found a musket, so I've got my arms dealer.

Anyone run into the new enemies?

I've found the new melee enemy. Haven't found the caster yet. I did a run of the dungeon in the world I generated for meteors, and found some more stuff... An extra Handgun, extra pair of Water Bolts, extra Cobalt Shield, and a shiny new Magic Missile that I haven't tried out yet. I also ran around grabbing hellforges and mining more hellstone, crafted a Phoenix Blaster (I wish those were continuous-fire instead of click click click) and Star Cannon and FINALLY found some diamond! Only five pieces, but it's better than nothing.

I like the redesigned Cobalt set, it looks good. I don't much like the redesigned skeleton/dark caster/angry bones sprites. Blue Moon is really great for those Bone Serpents, and actually pretty awesome in general. I used it almost exclusively in the dungeon. Makes me really want a Sunfury, even if I'm preeeeetty close to running out of content.

Oh, I almost forgot. I finally located another glowing mushroom patch, and this time I got some seeds, so I'll have a farm. Finally a source of large potions. It's kind of a bummer that the molten set got a bit of a nerf along with its set bonus being fixed... But I read that Space Gun rounds are unlimited with Meteor Armor so I guess I have a reason to craft some.

Acquired the Rocket Boots from a Goblin Army attack. Had the Guide croak on me during it (Pranced all over the battlefield. Rejoined almost immediately after the invasion was repelled, so no big deal). Cannot sustain the rockets, though, even with my Meteor armor set and three Bands of Starpower. Likes using my mana for non-frivolous things again, though. Plans to wear them regularly, probably in place of my trusty Cloud-in-a-Bottle. May opt for it over my Lucky Horseshoe (no fall damage).

Feels Sunfury is the most effective weapon I possess. Automatically disqualifies weapons that require ammunition, however. Hates clogging up my inventory, but I do not want to run dry. Be sure to summon the Eater of Worlds if you do get one. Crumbles like a young girl meeting Justin Bieber in person.

Regen stops while you're using and there seems to be a very short lag period before it starts up again after firing a shot from the Space Gun. I haven't got Rocket Boots so I don't know how difficult the timing is, but you should be able to pulse your jets and "hop" across the map indefinitely—laterally, at least.

Maybe if you had a jungle set and five bands of starpower, but I doubt it. With one band and jungle armor, at least, that doesn't work.

So after two tries at farming obsidian (which ended in me spending giant pools of water on 4 obsidian because this game's fluid mechanics are bollocks) I got it right on the third one. Giant pool of water plumbed (I totally forgot that could be used as a verb) under giant pool of lava, one square wide tube where lava falls into water; say hello to hundreds of free obsidian, two pickaxe swings at a time.

Also, an item I would love for them to implement - Anti-magic block. No spells go in, no spells go out. Sometimes I just want to sit in my outpost and play with my hellstone bars, and not give a flying fuck about the imps that throw their newfangled firebolts everywhere.

Yeah, I think for some reason the easy mining trick works better if you drop lava into water, instead of the other way around.

Okay, I demand liquid pumps or realistic water pressure in the next patch. I hate that there's no way to move liquid up aside from buckets.

I'd go with pumps - Air pockets are the only way I survive deep water half the time. And if you're talking about lava, it's much easier to move the water down anyways.

No. Placing blocks in space occupied by liquid destroys the liquid.

This makes wooden doors quite a good tool for removing water, because every time you open and shut the door it removes water where the open/shut door blocks alternate.

Water pressure:
Water has a pressure value. It doesn't increase with depth.

When you place a block into water, that chunk of water gains a unit of pressure.

When water has a unit of pressure, it tries to flow upwards by 1 unit. If it fails, it just remains under pressure.

You aren't allowed to destroy the last block of water in a body of water by placing block on it.

Pumps could also be fun. A pump-in tile, a sequence of hose tiles, and a pump-out tile. The first pump-out tile found in the sequence is the output. The pump-in tile can "hold" 1 unit of water, and it then tries to send it to the first "pump-out" tile that doesn't contain water. The pump-out tile then gets water, and it flows out from there. Or maybe they both draw and push water from above, which is simpler... ya, that works.

Each pump in tile activates if there is fluid above it. It then searches its hose for a pump-out tile -- note that hoses that branch don't work. When it finds its pump-out tile, it checks if there is air directly above it. If there is, the water directly above the pump-in tile swaps with the air directly above the pump-out tile. Run that iteratively and you'll be able to pump water as far up as you want.

If you want to inject realism, limit how many feet each pump can push water (or lava) up. Then you'd need to make a sequence of pumps to get water up high enough, and you could have pumps of various qualities.

I'd be content having an item that pulls liquid from one side and pushes it out through another, and having a placeable 'hose' object, like you said. I really just want to build a house that has a lavafall.

Whelp, the cool thing about the game is the limitless potential; I'm a bit bored of it right now, but like most people, am willing to wait for updates.

I just built my subterranian highway from my house the spawn point to the dungeon. I spent more time building it than I think I'll ever save using it, but its' nice to have either way.

Also, skeletron is stupidly easy once you have the Phoenix blaster. It took me one stack of ammo and less than an in-game hour to kill him.

The thing with the Eater of Worlds, is that it's coded to optimally attack targets at the rough ground level of your area. It does not base its attacks on how high you are, but how high the area aroud you is on average. You can see this clearly if you build a very tall tower.

This means all it takes to reach the full demonite tier armour is patience, not even vaguely good reflexes. You literally just need enough Shuriken, no armor is required because it will only go up so high.

Tundrantula

Pumpkin Lich

I personally really like the Tundrantula concept (extra body segment aside), especially the idea of the actual damage the boss sustains causing it to crack open to release a swarm of mini-bosses.

I picked up the game over the weekend. It's been a blast! Got broadsided by the Eye of Cluthlu while making an express skyway (read: one big line of dirt in the air) towards the underground jungle. It was much easier than the first time I ran into him in the upper level of my mine, lol. Still used up all of my arrows after repeatedly picking them up -- killed the second form with the enchanted boomerang while just running back and forth a -lot-. Wised up for the eater of worlds and made a box above ground and killed him with my staff of regrowth.

which worked quite well

| is a door, # is rock (or whatever). Note that the lava pours out in a thin sheet always, while the water has a gate.

Open up the water gate, and you get a sheet of obsidian to havest. Repeat as needed.

My problem is that the lava+water dynamic doesn't seem constant -- sometimes the obsidian occurs in the water, sometimes in the lava. So with the water-gate, I can control at least one of the two sources of liquid.

Yes, pretty much like that. Yakk's version works too, but I prefer having one block of obsidian at a time so you can literally mine it like a near-infinite chest. It generates as fast as you mine it. Occasionally it "jams", but just drop some dirt or stone into the empty slot and mine it out again to make it flow.

Finally got a Sunfury. I have almost two stacks of ammo for the Star Cannon as well... but nothing interesting to do with them. Missing Feral Claws, Wizard Hat and Rocket Boots... Anything else I'm missing is readily craftable. Many stacks of just about every type of bar. I think I have run out of steam.

Nah. If I was that big a collector I'd just go spelunking a bit, but I don't tend to use "spells" that much. Unless you're looking for something I have that you want, in which case hey, why not, but otherwise I'm ambivalent.
