Hard drive is write-protected only on my computer.

Postby reuben364 » Mon Jun 27, 2011 8:27 am UTC

My old external's USB port broke off, so I connected it using my computer's SATA. I bought a new external HDD. I copied all my stuff from my old external. My computer arbitrarily shut down (it does that). I reformatted my new external as the partition was screwed. It now appears write-protected on my computer, but is fine on others.
I think it's on my computer side. I have had it with my old external, but the problem just went away. I don't think I'll happen again though.
Does anybody know how fix this?

What OS do you use? How is the new external drive connected? USB? Do you get the same problem with usb keys?

USB flash drives. Just wondering if it's only that one drive that is write-protected or all drives.
