Sweet, no one posted anything new so I don't have to update any of my thoughts to post. First of all sorry for the delay. I got notified that I could actually replace in at like the worst possible time. Luckily, I had been thinking of what I would say all day long at work! I even made a sortable spreadsheet with my thoughts about every post by every player...

OK, first of all I'll answer the discussion questions.

1) I prefer vanilla roles, or roles with a passive or one shot ability, I don't have a preference for town or scum. I enjoy putting more time into analysis than thinking about who to use an ability on.
2) Personally I think active lurking is one of the biggest scum tells there is, especially for weaker players as they try to be active but at the same time not give away any information about their alignment. I think Passive lurkers tend to be vanilla town who just get overwhelmed trying to figure everything out, and they should be dealt with through mod prods/kills or be replaced if necessary. So yes to active lurkers, and no to passive lurkers.
3) When lynching I rely on a combination of gut and analysis, but usually tend to favor the analysis side.
4) Yes and no, I think meta is good to factor into a big player analysis, but I would never lynch someone solely on something like "I saw them say something similar in a game and they were scum so they must be scum again"

Now for current thoughts about the players people have been talking about and players I want to talk about.

First, Roband: At this point I think roband is town. If he really had no read then a lynch on cj was as good as any, and he felt that there was an added bonus of generating discussion with a vote, and getting some info about mod suggested targets. There are a couple problems with this. 1. I think there is plenty of stuff to look at to find scum at this point. and 2. (Which I think was already mentioned at some point) Mod wine should be treated like any other sort of wine, it should be ignored. If we lynch cj no matter what he flips it doesn't tell us anything about the next target.
Basically, I can see where roband is coming from with this vote, and his willingness to defend his actions is a towny move to me, as I feel like scum would have folded under the backlash to the suggestion, since scum would know the targets alignment already.

second, cjdrum AKA Scumdrum: Has a pretty low post count, few with much content, but he placed a vote on someone and backed it up with some reasoning, while I don't agree with it, it is enough to keep him right around neutral on my scumdar.

third, VectorZero: VZ has a low post count, and both of those are in a really weird format, however he claims that it is a genuine post restriction, and I know first hand how hard it is to post properly with those. Content wise the first post hints at some role information, and sort of implies that the post restriction is self imposed, and the second post he made said the restriction was real. It's a little inconsistent, but I don't think it is enough to go on for a lynch, but IGMEOY: VZ.

ninja'd: I look forward to a good content post from you. It will help clear some more things up for me.

fourth, Robot_raptor: Also, a low poster. started with an ok role/flavor spec post. my only issue with their first post, is they sort of talk about the ASHPD only being able to go to town and perhaps people should claim it, personally I think that is a very dangerous assumption to make, and a little suspicious. Their second and third posts are in a weird format, and they said it was for fun, however those posts don't have any content to them, and posting with a made up restriction is anti-town as it makes it harder to figure out what you are trying to say. so big FoS: on R_R. I would like to see them either drop the post restriction or include some good content in their posts if they insist on maintaining it. Either way though I would like to see more content.

Last, more_people: Their posts consist of absolutely nothing. There are some self votes, and mod votes, and urging people to vote the mod. I think the only content I've seen out of them is "I will lynch roband if he agrees to this" referring to some mod comment. So big FoS on m_p as well for contentless posting. I would like to see some content posts from them.

Conclusion: If it came down to a lynch right now I would prefer r_r or m_p because out of everyone they are adding the least to the discussion and there is no reason to keep them around, and out of the two I prefer m_p because none of his posts have any content, where r_r at least has 1 good post. I will give them time to respond, but when it comes down to the deadline I will be choosing one of those two.

Hrm...good points in general, EH. I still do not like roband's reasoning for the reasons you mentioned, but I will admit he's being rather more tenacious about sticking to them than I'd expect scum to be. As for the rest, hopefully D2 will clear things up somewhat via more discussion. I may or may not be awake before deadline hits; I am content to leave my vote on more_people where it is.

Day 1 Fourth Post Cake

Ingredients:
1. To clarify, I have to post as a cake recipe. That is all.
2. Have looked over roband's posts. He is focusing on lynching scumdrum as a 'random' vote to test GLaDOS. Problem is, it's defensible and explicable as either town or scum action: provides information as town, inherent defence as scum. Doesn't lift roband out of neutral, although a scummy scumdrum would make him look very townie.
3. scumdrum has not posted a lot. Voted ibarra for low content, didn't OMGUS roband despite protestations that his actions were silly. I'm 'hard to tell what's happening with' (answer: busy at work.) Urgh. For someone under mod-induced focus, he hasn't really replied well. I often get suspicious when people don't call me out for lurking... but it doesn't seem to have a high hit rate. Irritated town or scum not wanting to rock the boat? Not sure.
4. Ibarra. Pretty damn townie. Came up with some decent speculation and keeps poking at peoples reasons for voting.
5. robot_raptor. Mrk. Votes me for my post begging off recent lurkiness. Not a problem per se. Few posts, some content in each, but not much. Nothing to overtly suggest scum. Mildly townie, but could post more [/hypocrite]
6. DBC. Poking at roband's focus on scumdrum, rolespec and analyses of all players. Seems reasonable. Mildly townie. Mathematical error in unofficial votals... intentional or role related? Relevant?
7. weiyaoli. Not a lot to go on, and ultimately bandwagons on a lurker lynch. Mildly scummy.
8. more_people. No content, and doesn't meet modkill criteria. I understand why people are voting.
9. NecklaceOfShadow. Not a great deal of content, but as a replacement and a newer player, quite reasonable. Neutral.
10. ElectricHaze. 1 contentful post after replacing in, few good points. Mildly townie.
11. eajik i gather is still away, until today? No content.
12. joshz has only a few posts but they're generally reasonable, in the setting of a slow moving game.
13. VectorZero is awesome

Method:
1. Little bothered by the fact more_people hasn't posted in 36 hours and especially in the 18 or so since he was first voted. Difficult to know whether he's just busy, disinterested or scummy. Would probably prefer a roband lynch at this time and see if more_people can contribute or get modkilled.

Anyway, the reason i'm voting for Vector is as follows, he's claiming an actual post restriction. Now, lynching him gives out 3 possible outcomes, he's town, he's a special role, or he's scum trying to hide.

I think that if he's scum trying to hide, an imaginary posting restriction in a bastard game is a damned good idea, and one that i'd snatch up ASAP. If he's a special role, then less chaos in the mix is probably for the best, and if he's town, we'll know more about how glados has seen fit to mess with us.

If we vote scumdrum, we find out basically nothing.

Robot_Raptor: Seems to have a post restriction too (about facts), but hammers at VZ for having a post restriction. I also disagree immensely with his actual reason of voting VZ. (If scum, then posting a fake restriction is a great way to hide. If special role, there will be less "chaos" = good. If town, then we get to see how much the mod is messing with us.) Scummy

roband: I still don't like the fact that he would lynch someone randomly, as he claims to have no suspicion yet whatsoever on anyone. I don't know if it still applies now. Scummy

Okay, so the deadline seems to have come and gone. Mod approval is pending, but it seems as if more_people is the person getting incinerated today.

I've just skimmed over the whole of the thread again. My memory's still a bit fuzzy, but I hope I can provide some sort of credible analysis of the more... controversial peoples.

roband: His demands for more content are unequivocably a tell for townie status. I'm not sure if there's any other way to judge that. I disagree with his method --- going for the modwine and hoping that doesn't screw us over --- but his intent was good. Still... if he doesn't change his picking algorithm, I think that he might end up hurting us more than helping us. It's not a good idea to fall for more of GLaDOS's "hints." I'll go with townie.

scumdrum (or as preferred by others, cjscum): I'm not particularly sure why he chose to vote against Ibarra. If it was because ze wasn't making enough posts, according to scumscum, then there were plenty of other targets to choose. It seems off to misjudge the game so badly, I think, and could have only been done if he was protecting one of the lurkier players. I'll go with a bit scummy, though not enough to legitimize GLaDOS's "hints."

Ibarra: First of all... what pronouns do you prefer? I tried to look it up in the sticky but I didn't find any information. Secondly... I think that ze's quite towny. Ze posts analysis, acts as a check against other votes to see if they're making sense, isn't afraid of anything. I like hir style. I also like hir avatar <3. Townie.

Robot_Raptor and VectorZero: As fun as it'll be to see Dueling Spheres II: Electric Boogaloo on Day Two, it'd also be nice if we could actually get more actual content. At the moment, it's fairly hard to read either of you because of your post restrictions, real or not. To the dearest ~~Raptor~~ ~~Human~~ ~~Raptor~~ ~~Human~~ Raptor, I'm not sure if I really... understand your idea of lynching VectorZero. How will lynching a character with a post restriction help us get our bearings in the game in any way? It's confusing as hell. Still, both of you are just a bit inconclusive.

I can confirm that I had the ASHPD last night, which gives a limited cop-like power (Human vs. non-human) OR roleblock power.

Based on that, roband is NOT human, though that doesn't necessarily mean that ze's scum. So, I guess it'd be helpful if we could figure out the relationship between humanity and scuminess. It was implied in a PM to me that they are not the same, but this is a high-bastardry game, so it's uncertain as to whether or not that is, in fact, the case or whether the mod was playing with some loophole in phrasing.

A few thoughts on this:
-As it's based on Portal 1, robots are likely scum.
-Companion cubes, which are also non-human, are likely town.
-While it's theoretically possible that humans are scum based on the backstory of Aperture Science, the only humans in Portal 1 are Chell and Ratman (aka the Lab Rat), who are both friendly characters, so it seems to me that it's unlikely that either of them are scum, or that humans, in general, are scum. However, the mod might not be following the plot of Portal 1 as closely as I anticipate, so that could be erroneous logic.

Heh. Well, I guess that clears things up regarding scumdrum. Good shot, vig (or SK, if we have one? Either way, good shot); I guess GLaDOS was telling the truth after all XD

That would seem to indicate roband's probably not on the scumteam - hard to believe he'd have pushed that hard against scumdrum and risked getting lynched himself just as part of a distancing strat. Could possibly be an SK, but I'd think he'd have jumped on a bandwagon lynch in such a case rather than pushing hard for a scumdrum lynch. Still don't like his giving any weight to modwine whatsoever, but looking more like misguided townie to me than anything.

Looks like we are dealing with cores - could still have a turret or turrets out there as a SK or somesuch, but it seems likely that all scum will be non-human, though not all non-humans will be scum.

So we had two deaths during the night. I suspect VZ's death was a healthy dose of double cream likely engineered by all the butter. He must have had too much of his delicious cake, mmmmmm cake.

Scumdrum's death is a little more interesting. It could have been the work of some independant or perhaps a vig. Though perhaps it has something to do with all the flavor that the sugar dumped all over him. I guess some of that will be cleared up by whatever happens to roBAD. As of now I feel pretty good about roBAD since he pushed so hard against cj, and other than that nothing he has done has pinged me much. Of course it could all be a custardly plan if he is in fact in control of that part of the flavor, and used it to distance...

In other news m_p's floury results indicate that he was a good egg, which is unfortunate, I wish they would have come back and posted a good content post to try and avoid getting killed, but as it stands he wasn't adding much, and as day 1/night 1's go that wasn't too bad since we got 1 good kill out of it.

Other than the day start flavor I see that joshz, claimed to have used some jam last night. The result is interesting as we have a confirmed alignment on one Not Human player, but I am hesistant to vote based solely on that result as each team could have humans and non-humans, The companion cube comes to mind here.

I seem to have come down with a similar affliction of the mind as VZ, as you may have noticed reading this post. I will try to work with it as best I can, hopefully it is only temporary.

But- from what I can see; GLaDOS accusations have been made towards scum and town members, so I don't see much to go off of on that.

For the people playing so far... Roband seems to be the person to try to gets votes started. He's done that in a few games I've seen, so I'm not sure if that's scummy or just his style. ElectricHaze, Ibarra, and DaBigCheez strike me as the most townie, at this point, because most of their posts have had content. Joshz and Robot_Raptor seem more scummy to me than anything, mainly because their posts don't seem to have much.

As to Robot_Raptor, why are you voting for yourself right now? I get if that was a joke, but seeing you didn't unvote, I'm pretty confused by what you're doing.

What evidence do you have for this? We do know that scumdrum was scum, but we have no *concrete* evidence either way for roband/roBAD. I agree that going off modwine is a bad idea, but where's your evidence for this?
Granted, it does seem plausible that roband may be town, given that scumdrum is scum—if roband were scum, it seems unlikely that ze'd urge lynching another scum.

I wonder what the flavor of VectorZero's kill implies—was it GLaDOS that killed hir, or the mafia? It seems likely that it was the mafia—why would they kill scumdrum?—but the flavor is strange ("I put VectorZero into a test chamber and he failed"). Probably just a distraction, though, as the mafia wouldn't have killed scumdrum. The line about more_people being "a squishy human" is also interesting, as that sets up a dichotomy between humans and robots. Again, though, as this is a high-bastardry game, that doesn't necessarily imply anything about the relationship between humanity and scumminess. Then, I guess the question is: why did scumdrum die? Was it a serial killer, or a modkill? If a modkill, why? While scumdrum wasn't the most active poster, ze was far from a passive lurker.

I think we should probably discount the wine on roband as well—just because GLaDOS was right once doesn't mean she'll be right again—and continue based on analysis of posts. Based on roband's dedication to lynching someone who turned out to be scum, I'd say it's unlikely that roband is scum hirself. It *could* be an elaborate ploy to make hirself seem towny, but that'd be a pretty large risk to take.

Ok, so the deaths. I'mma work on them in logical order.

VZ, human, town. Seems to be the mafia kill here. Maybe achieved by putting them into a test chamber which is impossible to complete (in flavour terms anyway). I'll look into who he might have pointed out as scum in the previous day, later.

CJDrum, curiosity sphere, scum. Seemingly extra to the NK. I would not expect a modkill - CJ wasn't lurking, and if he'd read a spoiler or something there are replacements lined up. So an extra kill, could be a SK or VIg, but the flavour doesn't really support either of those ideas IMO. Unless one of is the 'real Chell' who has the ability to kill others? Chell certainly destroys plenty of Aperture Science equipment in the game.. A more likely explanation, I think, is that CJ's 'curiosity' means he has to investigate something each night? Maybe investigated something (or someone) which led to his death.

more_people, human, town. A mislynch, voted for by Weiyaoli, Roband, DBC, NoS, ElectricHaze. I voiced my suspicions of weiy's vote yesterday - now we know that CJ is scum I think there is a bit more weight behind the idea. My vote was for obvious reasons, self preservation. DBC wanted to prevent a tie. NoS gave reasons for not voting me, and therefore voted for more_people - but didn't actually give many reasons for this. People-who-might've-killed-VZ: Me, I guess. He voted for me. Although without good reason, IMO. He clearly said I was neutral and then voted, which is weird. He was a bit wishy-washy with his analysis, not putting any great pressure on anyone. He called out weiy for being 'mildly scummy' and that was his most definitive scum-read on anyone. Anyone else might've done it at random or because he directly called them out as 'not scummy' which is basically everyone else. I don't think that looking into this will help us much.

Further analysis of yesterday (mainly the end of the day, when people started posting and voting when I made it clear when the deadline was) including the 24 hour extension which I missed:

Josh seems suspicious. FOSing me for a random vote, which turned out to be on a scum player. He didn't know that at the time, or did he? He was then happy to use other people's analysis to base his own vote on - I don't understand that AT ALL. Then calls me out for ignoring the analysis which DBC made. Other people's analysis is for them. It is not for you to say 'yeah, I agree' to.

EH did some good analysis. This is often easier when you're on the outside looking in, so not unexpected. It is also easier to plan how you're going to attack the game if you're scum, but I think EH is fairly townie after his analysis and vote (even if it was for a townie).

RR just constantly looks bloody scummy, to the point where it's pissing me off. The only reason I can think for this playstyle is to build up meta, so that when they actually are scum, they get away with it because "they always play like that". I hope it's not that.

Ibarra seems townie-ish to me. Some ok analysis just before deadline, apart from the bit where they called me scummy

Analysis of so-far-today:

Josh got the ASHPD. Does this confirm towniness? I think probably not, but can't be sure. I can confirm that I am not human, but I don't want to go any further than that. If this comes down to a roleclaim later on, I want scum to have as little fakeclaim info as possible.

I am the new ~~love interest~~ target for GLaDOS. Because I wanted to vote for CJ yesterday? Because my name is easily changed into something indicating I'm scum? Random? I have no idea.

EH has a posting restriction? VZ had one and was town, but I'm not going to let this affect my view, scum could just as easily get a restriction. I get the gist of the post, but will try and work it out later. As simple as word replacement?

eajik arrives - we need further analysis please. Pulls josh up for being 'most scummy' and josh indirectly answers, by quoting something else from eajik's post. Is that josh not wanting to look overdefensive?

It's taken me 2 hours, in between other stuff, to type this up. I better get some goddamn love, after all those people hated on me for not analysing on Day1.

In summary, joshz looked scummy yesterday, along with NoS and weiy.
I'll see how NoS's replacement gets on and place a vote later.

I may have been wrong with my read on roband.
I agree that scum wouldn't pull something off like what roband did to other scum.
Since cjdrum flipped scum, roband is Neutral now.
But then there's the issue of the non-human cop by joshz. So far cores are confirmed scum. Any other inanimate object would be a turret or camera or the Companion Cube?

I'm also not sure about your case on wei.
I think he suspected more_people more than cjdrum back then.
m_p didn't contribute anything at all and was posting in other games (active lurking), whereas cjdrum was just the target of modwine, and voted me for a hypocritical reason.

joshz, I understand you copped roband, but why did you reveal the other action that the ASPHD could do? You only needed to say that it told you whether someone was human or not.

Robot_Raptor, I suspect you even more now.
Apart from what I pointed out yesterday, you also admitted to fake a post restriction.
You yourself said that post restrictions are chaotic for town.
Then that fake post restriction is about a core - which is what cjdrum flipped as.

My reasoning behind that at the time was that if it went to a townie, we could strategize about how to use it to best help the town—on my own, I wasn't really sure about the best way to use it, so I figured that collective reasoning could help whoever has it now make a more optimal strategic decision.
