I'm not talented in this area, so I can't offer any meaningful comments, but I found this to be incredible. It's such a simple telling, yet it's so serious.
10/10.

I liked it as well. Great ending.

Interviewer: Some people say they can’t understand your writing even after they read it two or three times. What approach would you suggest for them?

William Faulkner: Read it four times.

Short, sweet (well, not really), and to the point. I enjoyed it.

edit: Also, it just occurs to me, this story could be easily adapted into the lyrics of a really awesome song

Thanks! I've actually turned some other stories in this series into poems.

Btw, I'm putting out a collection in November in case anyone's interested.

Really packed a punch for such a concise story! Reminds me of a Just-So Story.
I'm drawing a whimsical comic book in the style of the great silent filmmaker Georges Melies. http://www.georgesmeliescomic.wordpress.com

Thanks. I think I might have read some of the Just-So Stories when I was young. My main influence was probably Lord Dunsany though.
