The cult of Slaanesh on Davron had been growing slowly. At its heart were the six masked Prophets Of Lust, bringers of the Way of Pleasure to the heart of the industrial planet. Everything changed when one of their number was found dead in their private chambers, pierced through the heart by an oversized sex toy. As only the Prophets were allowed into the chamber, it soon became clear that they were dealing with a assassin: a member of the Temple Callidus, intent on destroying the one prophet chosen as the host for Slaanesh's earthly form. The assassin must be found and stopped before the summoning ritual can begin!

Standard rules apply: you've all played before, so I won't explain them again.

Roles:

Host (King)
Prophet x3 (Guard, knows identity of Host/King)
Assassin (Has a one-shot kill, which can be used after lynch)

I'm not going to have internet between Friday Evening and Monday morning GMT, so someone else will be making the game-start post. Deadline will be 96 hours from it, lynch at deadline will be by plurality, ties decided randomly.

I've never played assassins before either but my understanding is that the town wins if they lynch the assassin AND the assassin misses the host (king) with his death vengeance kill. Everyone who is not the assassin knows who the host is. Assassin wins if he kills the host obviously. He only gets one shot which he can use at any time including after he is lynched by publicly announcing his attack as:

Kill [Player]

If this is an incorrect summery of the rules someone let me and Roband know.

That sounds about right. 3 of us know who the king is (well, four if you count the king), but we can't let that information get out, because the Assassin's kill comes after we lynch him. Obviously, it would be to our advantage to get the assassin in one. There are no night-kills, so no-lynch is not an option (it would just increment the day without causing anything to happen).

That sounds about right Boomfrog.

I've never played assassins before, and it seems like a tricky one. We can't claim by letting everyone say who they know the king to be, because then the assassin knows. I'm not even sure what discussion can take place, as I can't think of any strategies at the moment, aside from lynch semi-randomly, and hope we get the assassin early. I say semi-randomly, as lynching the king is stupid.

Hmm, reading the flavour, it seems like the assassin is a good guy. Cool spin.

It's a somewhat paradoxical game, where the town is desperate for information, but extending the day makes it more likely that the assassin figures out who the king is and wins.

If we hit the assassin on day one, he has a mathematical 25 % chance of winning.
If we hit him on day two, he has a mathematical 33% chance of winning.
If we hit him on day three, he has a 50% chance of winning.
If the assassin survives to day four, he wins.

I believe one of the first lessons learned about assassins here was "Don't lynch the king." I suggest we not do that.

Everyone should act like the king to hide the king, because, if I remember correctly, the assassin gets only one chance at the king. Best to keep the assassin unsure of who the king is.

So, do my fancy robes need to be fancied up a bit more?

Of the two people being voted, I feel less happy about slbub than I do about GoP.

However, I am also conscious of the fact that I feel bad about slbub in the other active game that is running, so I'm really worried that this is a posting/playstyle question more than seeing actual scumminess.

With the deadline, I don't have much choice but to post a vote, regardless of how unsure I am.

No, I am saying that I am particularly uneasy with my vote in this game because I suspect you in another game. And it is relatively unlikely (though not impossible) that you are scum in both. But I can either vote to break the tie, leave a tie, or vote to make a three-way tie, and I don't like a coin flip deciding the game, so I am voting for the one that seems scummier of the two. Which is you.
