Can I start with a known quantity from my past?

During a seven week school vacation I did 100 pushups every hour, on the
hour, 10 times a day. That's 10x100x7x7 = 49000.

Last time I tried, several months ago, I got to 40 something before I could
not breath, count or see straight. Not bad for the first time some years.

Man... the downside to that thousand pushup challenge was, now that I haven't exercised in months and am starting over again from scratch, it's a very intimidating climb back up to respectability.

Oh well. I'm a few days in, but I hadn't really been logging, so here is just for today:

3 sets of 75, about ten minutes apart, as so:
x50 wide grip (elbows way out)
x15 diamond
x10 pike

So, 9510 + 225 = 9,735.

I hadn't planned on doing any tomorrow, but I don't know if I can pass up the chance to put us over the top... Last post in September, maybe I'll try my luck and hope nobody notices this for a day or two?? Hm...

3x75, following the same formula as last time, then 35 regular ones to round it out.

So, 9745 + 255 = 10,000!!!

(EDIT: Whoops my math sucks. 3x75+35=260, so 10,005 total. But shrug. A round 10,000 looks better.)

Hm. I thought the moment would be a little more festive.

For reference, the "count to a million" thread has reached 36,052, in 1,062 days, for a total of ~33.95 numbers per day.

That's right ladies and gents: we're doing pushups almost twice as fast as they are counting numbers.

Here's to the next 20,000! (We'll be at 100,000 before you know it!)

Although, I do have to wonder if it might not be good for this thread to be moved/restarted over in Fit Club. If restarted, the first post could easily link back to this one (which would have to be locked).

Holy cow that was fast. Thanks for the move (and sorry about the double post).

I think this will be a good thing for this thread - the first 10,000 took 38 days, and the next 10,000 took 317. We need to fix that.

Because it's been hanging out over in "forum games" since it's creation.

I finally pm-ed a mod to suggest moving it to here, because I thought it would be good for its traffic (that and I spend a fair amount of my forum time in Fit Club, and it was always annoying having to wander over to 'games' just for this one thread. ...and, it just makes more sense for it to be here, no?).

So if it completely falls off the table now, I'll feel really bad. So...

I'd wanted to do one more set to make it an even 400, but the last set was poor, poor quality, so I'm punishing myself: Sorry, Samik: You're done. Want to do more next time? Then try making them worth a damn.

Ok, this is getting too time-consuming for a single exercise. I have no particular need or desire to achieve any push-up related personal bests at the moment, so I'm going to have to re-discover the concepts of gyms and bench press or one armed or something.
