Hi, I'm new here. I have around 830 books. It was a little inconvenient to move them all when I found a new apartment, but it did convince my family to buy me a Nook, so I guess it all works out.

Currently reading The Psychology of Judgment and Decision Making. As a CS grad I'm continually surprised by how irrational people are. It's like our brains are some terrifying kludge.

Hey guys. I'm 22 years old, have a computer engineering degree, and work full-time. My puppies think I exist to play with them and let them out to poop, and they're not far off.

I've mainly browsed the Math, Coding/CS, Logic Puzzles, Gaming, Movies/TV Shows, and Books subforums; that's where I'll probably post most often.

Hehe, I almost wrote Smart car to emphasize that I was talking about the car :wink:

. But in German we just say smart and not smart-Auto so I would normally just say smart.

I'm not actually sure what the correct thing to do is when using smart at the beginning of a sentence... but you've probably got it right.

Well, here goes:
I've been reading XKCD for a while now (since some time in my Freshman year of High School). Not much then, but I'd recently been coming back to XKCD now that I'm in college and I'm enjoying it more and more. The other day, I checked out the forums and loved what I saw, so I created an account and here I am.

I am a 19 year old Freshman in college, I love music and reading (as well as a fair amount of gaming), and I'm quite a shy person. I'm terrible at describing myself, but I'll answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Hello everyone, my screen name is Kenrou and I've been lurking around here for way too long, so I thought I'd try to join in for a change. Communicating with people have never been my forte, but I'll do my best and hopefully something good will come out of it.

Anyway, I'm a Swedish guy currently living in Japan and studying at a Japanese language school. The current plan is to return home in Mars/April and enter university later that year, probably CS or computer engineering. Moving to Japan and learning the language turned me from a "Huh, this anime stuff looks kind of neat"-type of person into a full-blown otaku. I don't really mind, except that it is quite unhealthy for my wallet. Other hobbies include saxophone (haven't played for 1.5 years though, since I left it back home) and playing around with computer-related stuff.

So, yoroshiku, as they say over here. Be nice to me ^^

Hey. I'm newish (I've been lurking here for a while but hadn't made an account). I generally go by Gear on the internets. I'm in high school, and spend quite a bit of my free time (and sometimes time that other people claim should be theirs) taking things apart (and sometimes even putting them back together) and messing around with code.

I think that I'm going to like it here.

Well, I guess an introductions thread would be the best place to start, other than my embarrassingly poor skills at Dragon Age 2...

So this is a case of just randomly spouting facts until someone pieces together your identity? I'll have me some of that.

In no particular meaningful or chronological order...:
I used to work in a bank (public majority owned, and retail, feel free to organise an Occupy Memoriae campaign...),
I've appeared on TV no less than 5 times, in 4 of those I have spent the pre-show chilling in the Green room,
I've spent far too long working in IT, and have embraced my deeply sarcastic and cynical personality as a result of those years,
I met my sweetheart while shooting at her,
I started playing various video games when I was 5, and now have made a hobby out of reviewing them,
My special skill requires at least 200mg/kg of caffeine to activate, and may or may not cause spontaneous combustion in just over 50% of participants of the act

Presumably those facts are so obscure that no one has figured out who I am, so here's the framing for that picture.

Hello, I'm Aaron. I'm 28, live in Maryland and work technical support for a living, night shift. I've lived in Maryland for about 2 years, though I'm just a transplant from the Midwest. Michigan is where I grew up and spent most of my life.

Oh and my username is borrowed from the game Dragon Age: Awakening. I plan on adopting a cat or two after Christmas, and there is a good chance one of them will end up named Ser Pounce-a-lot.

Hi! I've been following xkcd for some time now. I haven't had the slightest interest in the fora until the inevitable happened: a panel I absolutely had to say something about. I'll be posting a comment over in the thread for 982.

I'm a University mathematics professor, specializing in mathematical logic; I suppose I've known I was fated to be a mathematician since my very early teens. But I've been devoted to humour, satire, and outright nonsense right from the very beginning, having been born into a family of Gilbert and Sullivan fanatics. So often my logic takes a distinctly Gilbertian twist...
