4061.4 + 2.5 = 4063.9

On the one hand, I'm somewhat depressed that it only took me ten runs to have my first "What the hell am I doing? I hate this!" moment. I suppose I ought to have seen that coming after my breakthrough run last time.

On the other hand, I ran 18:25 this time, improving on my 18:43 from last time out. It was pretty ugly, though - I don't know: next time might be my first regression. We'll see.

2.5 miles in 18:00 flat, down from 18:25 last time. I don't really know where this came from - I almost talked myself out of even going today. It didn't feel good, but it definitely wasn't a torture session like last time.

This isn't the fastest I've ever run by a fair amount yet, but it's certainly by far the fastest I've ever pushed through these time zones.

from yesterday, but I had to stop abruptly as I think I rolled my ankle. It's feeling better today though, so hopefully I didn't pull anything.

Not getting much time to run at work. Life's a bit stressed at present.

@Izawwlgood: I'd give it a couple of days before you run on it again, to be safe.

@themis: good luck in your finals, whenever they are.

Last night I realized that to reach my goal of a sub 20:00 5k, I would have to run the full 5k at almost the same pace as my personal best 1.5 mile run (>6:26/mile for the 5k, vs ~6:19/mile for my 1.5 mile PB). :(

To make room for the Christmas pudding?

12 miles again Themis? Another Forest Gump moment?

I suppose, although it's going to take more than a few miles to undo the damage already accrued this season, let alone what's still to come.

Plus, today's run was even worse than I'd feared. Thanks to a not inconsiderable hangover, I bailed after only 1.75 miles. It just wasn't happening. I'm not even going to put this run in my log - just going to take a mulligan and pretend it never happened.

So:

4253.9 + 1.75 = 4255.65

EDIT: Oh, right, what's wrong with me. Merry Christmas!

I had a couple very bad runs once final were over. I guess I was just out of it. Then I did some sprints instead and went back for a long run and it helped, so I ran longer. I only ran six today. Toes are starting to hurt - need to buy new sneakers and put in new inserts.

4255.65 + 6 = 4261.65

I also hate when hangover runs don't workout. I'm not 19 anymore.

4321.1 + 2.6 = 4323.7

I don't even know if it's ethical to count this towards the total.

I destroyed my back and hamstrings at the gym nearly a week ago, and this was the first day I thought I could manage a run. I did a 4 mile loop, but things started to go badly shortly after a mile. There was some stopping to stretch, and some slow jogging, before I ultimately settled into a good walk / sprint rotation wherein I got some really, really good sprinting done - enough to feel I salvaged the expedition (70 degrees, rolling, hilly Sonoran desert roads, mountain views, unrealistically blue sky - good for motivation).

2.6 is my best guess for how much of the 4 I actually didn't walk. (I'm moderately confident about that because the blocks out here are laid down so that each leg is exactly 1.0 miles. So while it's still a guess, I have excellent markers off of which to base it.)
