Portland anyone?

Portland Oregon that is.

I'm mainly just wondering who would potentially show up at this point. If I can get enough people to say they would come, then we can start working out dates and times. There is plenty to do in portland, between Powell's bookstore, waterfront park, and OMSI, I think we should have no trouble entertaining ourselves.

The Portland Linux Unix Group (PLUG) meets on 1st Thursdays at Portland State University. After that meeting, we reconvene for "afters" at the Lucky Labrador Northwest Beer Hall at 1945 NW Quimby, approximately around 830pm Pacific Time. That is about the time the friday xkcd strip shows up online.

Friday, January 6, 2012 Eastern Time is when xkcd1k - xkcd strip #1000 - will appear. So it will probably appear while we are at afters on Thursday January 5. LLNW has free wifi, so we can watch it show up online!

I will bring some big pads of paper and some markers, so we can draw our own xkcd cartoons, should Randal M. be a bit tardy.

The topic of the Portland Linux Unix Group Meeting on Thursday January 5 will be XKCD, and XKCD1K.

7 PM Thursday Jan 5, 2012 at Portland State University in the Fariborz Maseeh College of Engineering & Computer Science Building Room FAB 86-01 (This is in the basement.) The building is on SW 4th across from SW College Street.

We will share our favorite cartoons, explain them to the clue challenged, and perhaps even draw our own. Afterwards, we head for the Lucky Labrador Brew Pub at 1945 NW Quimby, for pizza and adult beverages, free wifi, and hopefully XKCD #1000 before they close at midnight.
