I also got a -33% voucher for a valve title, so if anyone wants it I'd be willing to trade it for....eh, pretty much anything, from some extra game you grabbed ages ago in a sale to a lump of coal, any takers?

Well then it's not useful at all since you probably can't use your coupon until Jan 2nd! (Unless it's gold)
The coupon is usable any time between Jan 2 and March 1, but only on games that are released before Jan 2. If Valve launches any game between Jan 2 and March 1, the coupon can't be used on it.

But if Valve does release a game before Jan 2 (highly unlikely), I could wait to buy it. I've got enough to play as it is.

I don't even want that game. :|

Unless you absolutely despise western RPGs, there is no reason not to want Divinity 2. It's what happens when devs actually sit back and think about what makes an RPG fun.

I don't despise them, I nothing them. The two I've played are Witcher and Oblivion, and I got bored of both after a few hours of play.

Divinity 2 is nothing like either of those two, so it may be worthwhile to give it a shot if you can get a good deal.

The Humble Bundle just added a bunch of games. Anyone that hasn't looked at the new offer might want to toss it a glance. Especially if you beat the average (which has actually gone down).

Also, I have a coupon for 75% off on Torchlight. I already own the game so I'm up for trading that. It's not a gold coupon, but it's still cheaper than the game's current sale.

I guess the challenges so far have been tolerable? I've been too busy to mess with them.

Orcs Must Die, Spiral Knights, Dungeons of Dreadmor, and Swords and Soldiers are the only ones so far I can mess with.

Aside from the first gift, I've only gotten coal for completing challenges. Not sure yet if I want to save it up and enter the drawing or try to craft it for more chances at gifts.

I got Defense Grid from the Potato bundle back when and getting this challenge was the first time I've actually played it, probably won't ever play it again either. Sooper boring. On the second try I pretty much optimized my tower placement in the first few waves and after a few rounds of upgrading just had to lean on fast forward button. The 'Adrenaline' challenge mode is described at the menu as something along the lines of 'a fast and furious onslaught' but actually playing it feels like the game is being anemic with enemies and each waves seems to take an age to get on screen after the last.
I'm not normally a fan of tower defense games anyway, but this seemed almost lazy, and if Adrenaline mode is supposed to be 'fast and/or furious' I can't imagine how much of a snorefest the rest of the game must be.

To be fair, the narrator/sidekick or whatever guy was alright, and the game could have a fantastic story for all I know, but from a game-play perspective, I can't recommend it.

I just did the Defence Grid achievement with getting a gold medal in adrenaline mode, and got a coupon for 50% off Back To The Future. That's a bit more like it; that discount actually beats the already existing discount, and I might actually use that one. Still not as good as getting a free game though.

Edgar, you can speed the game up by holding down the F key.

True, but it's still not the most exciting game. I've had a lot more fun (and arguably more depth) on Bubble Tanks tower defence. The voice acting and graphics are nice though. And I don't really regret most of the time I've spent on it.

I agree that without the narrator, Defence Grid would be a terribly dull game.

Spoiler:

2 Copies of Portal 1
Audiosurf
Defence Grid
The Wonderful End Of The World
Toki Tori
Amnesia Dark Descent
A lump of coal
2 50% coupons

I wonder if you get the achievement for trading an item for the same item.

Yea, the fast forward button I mentioned.

Still, a Fast Forward button is not a replacement for good pacing or furious-ness.

You may have problems getting it to run. Work with it, google it and so on, get the game to run.

It's.. so, so very worth it.

I was under the impression that GoG did some sort of magic to make things work on modern computers.
GoG's guarantee is that the game will start and that you can get to the menu to hit New Game, Start or whatever sequence is needed to make it go. After that, you're on your own.

That said, GoG's forums are fucking fantastic at making shit work.

It is running fine for me. I've enjoyed it so far but I'm not really far at all. I see what you mean about a lot of talking - I find that I really enjoy this though so I'm excited.

You'll want to follow this guide regarding the entirely reasonable Torment mods. I forget which ones are already applied to the GOG version; there's a forum topic there somewhere. High time I got through that thing myself; but first, this holiday stuff. And Phoenix Wright 3.

No, 50% off Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is the most worthless coupon. Not because it's a bad game, but the current sale is 75% making $0.62. I mean, really?

There are serious problems with gifts if a lump of coal is way more preferable than the gift itself.

I have 5 coals now and portal 1, I don't have most of the games but I guess I will get the other psychonaut achievement , the L4D2 one and the steam achievements. I will keep the coals, 7 for one present which might be something like x% off seems like a waste. I should fill my wishlist a bit better it would be depressing to actually win one of the x items from wish list things and get games I don't really want.

Edit: never mind, Steam was just being odd for a few minutes. The coal is back.

Edit2: I sense something wrong here...

Why? With the pack you save the time to add more than one exemplar of the game to your cart. It's only natural that you have to pay extra for a service.
But honestly that isn't the first steam game where I see something like that.

The Amazon sales are excellent today. They include:

Borderlands GOTY - $6
Dungeon Defenders - $2
Tropico 4 - $5
Civ 5 GOTY - $11
Civ 4 GOTY - $9
Bioshock 1 - $6
Bioshock 2 - $6

Tropico doesn't register on Steam, but I think the rest do. They've also got a few bundles with some of the above games for an even better deal. Valve needs to start taking notes.
