Huh. I've not before seen pork pie hats that had that flat top - when I looked them up before I only got the ones that are more akin to fedoras or trilbies. I always considered BHG's hat to be like a short top hat (which those are, obviously).

That bow in the hat ribbon is common on pretty much all hats with a ribbon. My top hat, bowler hat and fedora all have the ribbon bow thing. It's generally part of the design. Probably an easy and decorative way to hide the end of the ribbon.

Well, the height and brim width match, but BHG's hat looks smooth like cloth, not woven from straw, and I've never seen a black boater. Also, BHG's hat is somewhat flexible on top, eg http://xkcd.com/433/.

Well, that'd be a bit of a giveaway how lousy a topic this is, wouldn't it?

Also, the xkcd hats seems to be really low, like http://www.hatsandcaps.co.uk/Bailey-Hats-Charlie-Pork-Pie-P127802/ with the white part removed. (although I think this hat is the best I've seen so far, it being really square, e.g., no rounded edges or dents)
